Fellow genealogists and anyone concerned with preserving our sacred cemeteries, The History Channel and Time Warner are sponsoring a 'Save Our History' grant award for which anyone can go online and cast their vote. Voting ends THIS FRIDAY April 27th, so time is short. We were fortunate that our restoration project was chosen as a finalist. The JCOGS is the only genealogy society or cemetery project to be chosen as one of the five finalists, so I truly hope that you will go to the Time Warner website and cast your vote for the James Cemetery project. If awarded this grant, we will use 100% of the grant to begin installing an antique-style aluminum alloy fence around the perimeter in order to help halt further desecration of this sacred and historic burial ground. You can read more about our James Cemetery project at the Time Warner 'Save Our History' voting website. Please unite with us as a group of genealogists concerned about the ever-increasing destruction of our cemeteries by VOTING for us at the website below. And note also that ANYONE with Internet access can VOTE so please forward this email to your genealogy circle of friends and ask THEM to vote too! Hello Dorris, I think I have lost contact with you and hoping to restart once more. Researching the "King" families in Missouri.(Like the elusive Smith's) :))) John King b. Jan 1790 in KY, married Elizabeth McKinney(John McKinney's sister and Alexander McKinney's youngest daughter). Marriage location then was St Charles, MO. They settled near Marthasville, MO. Later I find them in Montgomery Co., then Warren County, MO at the time of her death. They traveled with the Boone, McKinney and Bryan families from Kentucky to Missouri. 1. Best location for information on these travels from KY>MO. 2. Any mention of John King other than John McKinney's Biography and tax records in 1817 & 1819??? 3. Having a terrible time finding where these families started from in KY. Which waterways were used? 4. Any information on early wars that I can get off the computer around the 1790's thru 1870's?? 5. Where could I find the Louisiana Purchase information showing land deals/ trades(Buys)? 6. Are there any Church records from this time period? I'm hoping to gleen some information, so I can plan another travel time to Missouri and to Kentucky for my research. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Hello Folks, I have just completed another Buford Website up-date and would be pleased if you would stop by and have a look. www.bufordfamilies.com Spring didn't last very long here in Colorado - We have had snow storms and freezing rain all over the place. Big BUMMER !! Best wishes to all, Fern K. Buford Walker
Hello, I am the RAOGK volunteer for Lexington, KY. I am in Florida for the winter but I will be going back to KY on May 2. I can search the city directories after that time. Just send me a request then. I have several others to do. The library is at; http://www.lexpublib.org/local/ Cheers,,,,,,,,,,Don Firsdon in FL
You might call the Lexington Public Library and ask if they would do a lookup in the City Directory for those years. We had a pipe burst into the Kentucky Room in Feb. so I don't know if they are open yet. lexpublib.org Mary ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
You might try to find a city directory for those years at a local KY library. Lots of libraries have their databases searchable online. Then, you may be able to get them with an inter-library loan through your local library. The 1940 and 1950 censuses are not available. 1930 is the latest released to the public. They release them 75 years after the census, so 1940's will be released in 2015. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
The census is only in the public domain up to 1930. ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com.

Hi List, Need some help/advise. My parents were married in September 1940 and their address at that time was Woodland Ave in Lexington. From there, they moved to Richmond Ave, then to Rosemont Garden both in Lexington. We moved to California in 1956. My question is getting information from the KY census. I know the exact addresses, names, etc., but not sure of the year. It would be from 1940 thru 1956. Is there a census I can go to go get moving dates to these addresses? thanks, robert rothenbuhler
Many thank to the folks who sent me the Lexington, KY library site. Could someone please give me the name and email address of a library in Lexington, KY who might be able to help me with city directory information? Thank you for any help you can give me. Joyce Greineder jcgreineder@ct.metrocast.net
Do you always have the Digest in an attached file or do you send it like the others in the email? When I open the attached file in wordpad, 0001.txt never has anything in it. Is this right? Thanks, Carol ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
