    1. [KYFAYETT] COONS DNA TEST REQUEST
    2. Sharlene
    3. Hello Everyone, This message is an attempt to locate any living male persons with the surname Coons, Coonce, Coontz or any of the other derivative spellings who would be willing to participate in the FamilyTreeDNA testing program. My research partner and distant cousin, Scott Coonce, and I have our line traced back to Martin Coons, born circa 1775. Martin Coons married Mary (Polly) Locke in Jefferson County, Kentucky, April 5, 1796. We have been attempting to make a connection with the correct Coons/etc. line for over ten years. For those not familiar with the DNA projects, they can help sort out families who share a common ancestor and those that just share a surname. When descendants of several men with the same surname and location are tested, you can see which ones have the same DNA pattern and which ones aren't close. It can eliminate possible connections so that you don't research unrelated family as well as confirm that two lines are related. When you see the results from just one individual, it is just a string of numbers. Any participant of this project must be male. For many years as we followed our line back, we were positive 'our' Martin Coons was the son of Jacob Coons who married Elizabeth Hanbach in Montgomery County, Kentucky and died September 22, 1807. DNA testing has proved that to be untrue. Therefore, the search goes on. We would very much appreciate contact from anyone who is interested or has any questions regarding this program. To see the names of the numerous participants in the Coon surname group, please visit www.Familytreedna.com/public/coon. You are also invited to send a message to: Scott Coonce at scottc@alaska.net with any questions or concerns. Thank you very much. We look forward to hearing from you. Sharlene Coontz Meyer

    1. [KYFAYETT] JONES, William and Lucy THOMPSON ca. 1800 KY
    2. Bill Jones
    3. I have been searching for quite some time for some sort of record concerning the marriage of William JONES and Lucy THOMPSON. The marriage would have taken place in about 1800, give or take 5 years. According to a biographical sketch of my 3rd g-grandfather, Harrison JONES, William and Lucy (his parents) were KY natives. I know that Lucy THOMPSON was born about 20 Oct 1784 possibly in VA. and died 20 Jul 1850 in Carroll Co., IN. William is another story. I do not have a birth date for him. According to Harrison JONES' bio, he would have died in approximately 1822. He reportedly went to New Orleans (without the family) and died there of yellow fever. I have not been able to locate any documentation of his death. During the period from about 1800 through 1814, the family was apparently back and forth between KY and OH. There first child, Resin (Rezin, Reason) V. JONES reported on a census that he was born in OH ( this would have been in 1805-6). The second child, Harrison was born 10 Jun 1812 in Maysville, Mason Co., KY (just across the river from OH). The third child, Angeline JONES reported having been born in OH. (4 Jul 1814). I would appreciate any help that anyone might be able to give about this family. I have been stuck at my 4th g-grandparents ( William and Lucy) for several years.

    3. Hi Anne, I can't help you with the book, but check out the Lexington Cemetery's web site at http://lexcem.org/index.cfm/genealogy.html BTW, RootsWeb has requested that those who post messages on it's mailing lists not include signature files or other lists of surnames being researched as you have done It really clogs up the works when people do searches for surnames at RootsWeb and come up with dozens of hits, only to discover that all the have for their efforts is names on sig files lists! 3. My family line is James Munday II born 1765 Caroline County, Virginia. James married Judith Smith about 1798 in Fayette County, Kentucky. (Judith's parents were Benjamin Smith and Nancy). James and Judith's children were Nancy, Judith Ann, Sally (Sarah L), Emily, Lucinda, Dorcus D, Samuel S and James Martin all born 1800-1820 in Lexington Township, Fayette County, Kentucky. I have been unable to locate the death date of Judith Smith Munday? Does anyone have any information on this family? James and the children moved on to Lincoln County, Missouri about 1830. 1. [KYFAYETT] Records Prior to 1783

    3. I am new to the list and have also posted this query on the Bourbon list. My grandparents are Moses Cusanbary, Cusnenberry, Quisenberry spellings and wife Ann unknown who were originally from Virginia.. My family believes Moses Cusanbary, etc., descends from the Quisenberry family from Orange Co., Va. Moses signed petitions in 1783 and 1786 in Bourbon County, Ky and lived at Limestone at Licking Creek in 1786. They attended Bryan Station Church , Coopers Run Baptist Church ca 1790. Later they attended David's Fork's Baptist Church in Fayette County. Some families they intermarried with were my Pulliam line who went to Warrenn and Allen County, Ky. Moses sons in Bourbon and Fayette counties were Elijah, John, Vinson (Vincent), William and Daniel. They intemarried with the Ross, Lindsay, Davis families as well as Obedience Cushenberry m Johnson Ellis who was part of the Hezekiah Ellis family. They also intermarried with the family of Neal McCann. I was wondering where to look for records prior to 1783 as I thought Fayette and Bourbon was part of Kentucky Co., Va. Would anyone have any knowledge on these families and where to look for records ca 1783 or before ? I don't know anything about Kentucky Co., Va. Thank You, Marianne Dillow

    1. [KYFAYETT] Hogan
    2. I am researching the line of James Alexander Hogan and Nannie Hogan. James died by in 1904 by suicidal drowning in the Kentucky River. The obituary states he was buried in the family cemetery. I have located Hogan cemetaries in Jessamine Co, Fayette County, and Garrard County. I have census records showing the family in Clark County also. My grandfather was their son, Jesse Hogan, born in Clark County in 1878. I would like to determine which cemetary and its location. Would also like to determine the death date of Nannie Hogan. I have a public family tree on Ancestry .com including more details and dates. Janet Hogan Chapman

    3. The big front yard is still in front of Lafayette High where I also waited before class. The area I am talking about is now a subdivision between Picadome Park and the high school. In 1945, it was fields of grain owned by a developer named Peirson with a tenet farmers shack. We moved from Picadome Park in 1947 to Rosemont Garden extended, which is now Lane Allen, I believe. >>> twokycats@alltel.net 05/13/07 1:18 PM >>> Are you real sure about the date for those German prisoners? Why would they still be around in 1945? I went to Lafayette High 1945-1948 and it was a developed school with a large front "yard" where we waited as along as we could before going to class. I do have several pictures of that area.
