    1. [KYFAYETT] Lexington Asylum
    2. I am looking for any information on an asylum in Lexington in 1832. Also looking for coroner records for Fayette County for 1832. These are some papers found in Lincoln County Courthouse for the Estate of Dr. Joshua McCormack who died around September 13, 1832. Receipt for payment, not dated or signed, road expense to and from Lexington while taking Joshua McCormack to lunatic assylum. Receipt for payment, dated Spetember 13, 1832 purchase of 3 yards of Cambric for Joshua McCormack. Possibly what his body was wrapped in, when buried, if he was alive when this was bought, it would not be in his estate papers) Receipt for a coroners jury and services, naming James Devers as the coroner for Fayette County, dated September 17, 1832. Does anyone know if the coroner records for this time frame survived over the years? I know there have been several fires in courthouses but would these records have been kept at the courthouse or some place else. Any help is appreciated. Also, any newsppapers for this time frame. I understand it would have been very rare for a coroner's jury or as we call it an inquest to have been held during this time. Thanks for your time. Susan Hudgens

    1. [KYFAYETT] ALEXANDERs in Lexington 1800's
    2. Edith T Farris
    3. Hi, Listers, I wonder if anyone is researching the ALEXANDER family that managed and may- be owned the Alexander's Ashland Hotel in downtown Lexington in the 1860's- 1870's. The family head was John Wallace ALEXANDER who was the proprietor. His wife was Sarah MARGARET. Their children were: William Wallace, John H. who died of rabies in Lexington in 1869, and Mary J. W. Alexander who married 1. Franklin J. Tanner and 2. Thomas A. Flannelly. In early 1880 the son William murdered a Black servant for voting Republican (per family history) and the entire family pulled up stakes and left Lexington. John, Margaret, Mary J. W. and William's wife Jennie and their children fled to Cincinnati where they are found on the 1880 census. I am hopeful someone out there is also researching this line and I would like to compare research and family stories with them. Edie Farris Covina, CA

    2. Hi, I've been doing a lot or reading of early KY history. Block Houses were built at the stations for protection during Indian attacks. People on outlying farms would come into the Block Houses if they were lucky to hear ahead of time that Indian raiding parties had crossed the Ohio river and were heading their way. Bryants Station was one of the early stations, or settlements contemporary with Boonesborough and Harrodsburg. I can't find the map I saw which showed whereit was located and dated about 1779. Some of the stations developed into towns and some did not. Perhaps someone else will give you more information on that. Betty Silfies

    2. Hi, all, Does anyone know what the Block House refers to in Bryant's Station, KY? I found a Bryan Station Spring listed in Kentucky in Fayette County, but I don't know if there was a township named Bryant's Station. I have an ancestor who was born in the Block House at Bryant's Station ( Brumfield Boone) son of Thomas Boone and Susannah Brumfield, who married Maria Wood. Any information would be appreciated.
