    1. [KYFAYETT] New Combes book on-line
    2. In case anyone's interested, it was just announced on the Combs Mailing List that they've uploaded the first electronic edition of the book, "The Combes Genealogy," by Josiah H. Combs, including all new Footnotes (Annotations) and a new full-name, full-location Index with over 3,500 entries. It's at www.combs-families.org/~combs/jhc/ms-jhc.html, and most of the Combs families in the book are central or east KY Lines, but there's also quite a bit of VA, NC, and some England and Indiana. 2. Barb Marshall
    3. Benjamin, Robert and Jesse DRAKE were said to have come to Dearborn CO, IN from Lexington, KY. One of them is probably my third great grandfather - which one I don't know. Any info on them would be greatly appreciated. Robert and Jesse were said to be brothers. Jesse had at least 2 children, Dillard and Delilah. Both born probably in VA or NC between 1780 - 1790. Thanks for any info you can give. I'll gladly share what I have (which isn't a lot) with anyone. Barb Barb Marshall List Mom of BAGLEY & DRAKE e-mail lists Half Moon Bay, CA, USA

    1. [KYFAYETT] WILGUS, William - c1789 - 1936
    2. WILLIAM WILGUS / c1789 - 1836 WILLIAM WILGUS moved to the Lexington area from New Jersey about the beginning of the War of 1812. His wife was Mary Ann Davis, daughter of Garrard Davis of Lexington. They were married c1814 in Lexington. Their children were: Elizabeth b. c1816; three unknown females; John B. b.1824; Mary O. b. c1825; and Garrard D. b. 1827. All were born in Lexington. Garrard D. is my direct line; he married Agnes Clay Monks, daughter of Thomas Monks, in 1848 in Lexington. I am seeking information about WILLIAM LUXON's parents; i.e. names, birth, marriage, and death dates and places. Also seeking information about the children of William and Mary Ann Luxon. 1. [KYFAYETT] LUXON, William / 1803 - 1901
    2. WILLIAM LUXON / 1803 - 1901 Looking for the names of the parents of the above WILLIAM LUXON. William Luxon was born in the Isle of Guerney (Channel Islands - UK) in 1802. Moved to New York in 1836 and came to Lexington a few years later where he established a coal yard. A few years later he moved to Richmond. His wife was Elizabeth J. Hawkins. They are both buried in the Lexington Cemetery. Their children were: William E. born 1835 in the Isle of Guerney; Thomas C. born 1843 in Lexington; Elizabeth born c1845 in Lexington; and Laura B. born c1849 in Lexington. Thomas C. is my direct line. Williams parents would most likely have been from the Isle of Guerney since he was born there. There are several descendents of William Luxon still living in Richmond, but none of them has answered my letters. One descendent, Ballard H. Luxon III, lives in Lexington but is in the process of moving to Florida and I will not be able to recontact him for a few months - until he gets settled. Any clues as to William's parents will be greatly appreciated. Also, any history of Thomas C. would be appreciated. Jerry Garrett Carmel, Indiana E-mail: [email protected]

    1. [KYFAYETT] Marriage Info
    2. Robert Rothenbuhler
    3. Hi List, My parents have passed away and I am trying to get some information about their marriage license I received from Lexington, Fayette County, KY. The top part of the license is titled Marriage License. It gives the standard info and the date is 4 Sept 1940. The Date of Marriage and Place of Marriage are blank. It is signed by a Clerk. The bottom part of the license is titled Certificate of Time and Place of Marriage. It states the following. "I minister of the Methodist Church do certify that on 4 Sept 1940 at Lexington, KY , etc, etc, etc." It also states "I qualified and gave bond, according to law, authorizing me to celebrate the rites of Marriage in the County of Shelby State of KY". Date given is also 4 Sept 1940. It is signed by the person performing the marriage. My question is, were my parents married in Fayette County or Shelby County? Also, were they married in a church by a minister, or in the county court office? Do minister's performed marriages in court office's? I know my parents lived in Fayette County. Isn't Shelby County a good distance from Fayette? Any comments would be welcome. thanks, robert rothenbuhler new braunfels, texas [email protected] Researching........
