    1. [KYFAYETT] Thank you! (St. Paul's Church)
    2. JBlum
    3. I want to sincerely thank the listers who responded with the address and phone number for St. Paul's Church in Lexington! The church where my grandfather, James William O'NEAL, was married (in Chicago) told me that he was baptized at St. Paul's. I knew that he was born in Lexington, however, when I wrote to obtain a birth record I was told that the records didn't go back that far - 1896. This will be a BIG breakthrough if I can obtain the baptism record as it should have the names of his parents on there. The only thing I know is that they, too, were born in Kentucky. Thank you again and please wish me luck! Shannon South Florida

    3. Hi Ellen, the only Thompson I have is a George Thompson, who married Betsey Cooper Rose, widow of my ancestor, James Rose of Fayette Co., KY. James died in Dec 1811, a month after the marriage to Betsey. They had no children together. I believe George to be a son of Asa Thompson. Terri Walker

    2. Bud & Jari Sharpe
    3. Fellow Researchers, I'm looking for more info on two paternal g-g-gfathers, James MORGAN and George W. SHARP. Here's what I know so far. George was born abt 1807 in TN, m abt 1832 in KY Julia Ann Unknown (b abt 1812 in KY). They are found in Fayette Co in 1830 census, before moving on to Bath Co, KY. I have their children's names and approximate d.o.b. One son, William H. Sharp, b abt 1838 in KY, is my g-gfa. James MORGAN was born 16 Apr 1793 in Fayette Co, KY, d 8 Aug 1865, m Elizabeth Unknown (b abt 1796). I have their children's names and approximate d.o.b., most or all born in Bath Co. By 1830 census, Morgan family was in Bath Co. The Morgan family later migrated with the Sharps to Owen Co by 1860. Does anyone recognize any of this? Happy to communicate with anyone to further confirm any of this, add to this, or contradict my records. Bud Sharpe, [email protected]

    1. [KYFAYETT] KY Gorham's
    2. Hi, I'm new to the list and would like to let you know a little about me and what I'm looking for. My name is Paula Gorham Fealko. I'm the daughter of: Clarence Edward "Red" Gorham, Jr., b: 10-30-1927 LA d: 1-28-1993 LA -- son of -- Clarence Edward Gorham, Sr., b: 12-2-1906 LA d: 4-5-1979 LA -- son of -- Wesley Harvey Gorham, b: 2-16-1856 LA d: 6-15-1941 LA -- son of -- Sanford Gorham, b: 1812 KY d: after 1872 LA I have no idea what county Sanford was born in. He married in the mid 1830's to a Mahulda Freeman, b: 6-9-1815 TN d: 9-9-1897 LA. Again no county known for her birth or where they got married. They had 10 or 11 children. The first, James, if he's theirs, b: 1836, is only mentioned in one census so far. The second, John was born in KY in 1838. Nancy, 1840, Martha, 1841, Harriet, 1843, Mary C., 1846, Robert Sanford, 1848, Aaron, 1849, George, 1851 and Jesse, 1853, were born in TN. Wesley was the only one born in LA in 1856. In the 1850 Robertson Co. TN census we have the following: Gorham, Sandford 31 KY Rb 315-42, Hulda 31 TN, John 12, Nancy 10, Martha 9, Harriet 7, H. C. (actually M. C. for Mary) 4, Robt. 2, Aaron 1, Jas. 14. (Sanford and Mahulda misstated their ages on this one.) Now, in this same census, we have William B. Gorham, b: ca 1788 in Fayette Co., with his second family. Wife, Priscilla Pope Foreman, b: 10 Jun 1808 in NC. Children: Susan, Caroline, Sarah, Martha Victoria, Thomas Marion, and Buena Vista. All born in Robertson Co. Also, William's son, John W. Gorham, b: ca 1820 in TN, from his first marriage to Polly (Mary) Gunn of NC, is listed with his own family. Wife Lydia Traughber, b: 1825 KY, and children, Robert, Mary and Monterey. Lydia is the daughter of William Traughber and Permilia Gorham of Logan Co., KY. Lydia and John were 3rd cousins. We haven't found solid proof yet, but we believe Sanford to be the oldest son of William from his first marriage and therefore could be from Fayette Co. We're trying to find any information available on Sanford and where he was born and Fayette seems to be at the top of the list of possibilities. Here's what we have on his ancestors is this theory is correct. Thomas Gorham, Sr., and Margaret Taylor Cotton, both died in Logan Co.: John Gorham and Priscilla George?, both died in Fayette Co.: George, d: 1849, buried at Gorham Grave, Coldstream Farm, Fayette, Co., married Nancy Graves, 9 Sep, 1808, in Fayette Co. William B., born ca 1788 in Fayette Co. (Sanford's father) Peggy, b: ca 1793, Fayette Co. Thornton F., b: ca 1795, Fayette Co. Letitia, b: ca 1796, Fayette Co., Simpson C., b: ca 1798, Fayette Co. married Lititia Boyd, 22 Oct 1829, Fayette Co., married Delila Tompkin, 9 Nov 1840, Fayette Co., and Frances C., b: ca 1800, Fayette Co. I'm sorry this is so long. The Gorham Family was a very large one and spread out all over Kentucky. If you have any information that could help lead me to proof about where Sanford was born, you would make a lot of Louisiana Gorham's very happy. If you need more detailed information, like birthdates, etc., I have a lot more available, but I'm trying to keep this to what I need from Fayette Co. Also, I have a list of over 25 different ways the name Gorham was spelled. The more common being Gorum, Goram, Goreham and Ghoram. One more thing. We think Mahulda may have been Cherokee. We haven't been able to find anything on her family yet. I'm in the middle of the book "Trail of Tears" and was wondering if that might have been a reason that there's not much of a record on this family. I'm at the part where the whites didn't want their daughters to marry Indians. But did they feel the same about white men marrying Cherokee women? Most were of mixed blood by this time anyway. Again, I'm sorry this is so long and I appreciate you for taking the time to read it. I'm looking forward to being a part of this list and hopefully contributing to it. Thanks, Paula Gorham Fealko

    3. Fellow researchers, I've had a few messages helping me discover some of the "typos" on my Bourbon County Marriages--1786-1800 list. Thanks gang! I encourage notes of this sort. Also, if you know for sure that your ancestors werre married in Bourbon County during these dates, please e-mail me with their names and dates (formatted like the list) and I will include them with special notations. As an example, my 4th great grandparents, John Shawhan and Margaret McCune, were married in Bourbon County, October 24, 1793. I have their Marriage Bond as proof. However, they were not on the Kentucky Historical Society's list. I will include their names with the notation of the marriage bond. Bob -- Bob Francis, 1920A Butner St., Ft. 3. Fellow researchers, My new web site may be of interest to you. I recently posted the entire listing of Bourbon County Marriages--1786-1800, from the Kentucky Historical Society. Many of the families settled beyond the borders of Bourbon County or remained in the new counties formed out of the old Bourbon County lines. Anyhow, the web site address is: http://www.shawhan.com/marriages.html I hope that you may find a treasure there. Enjoy! -- Bob Francis, 1920A Butner St., Ft. 1. [KYFAYETT] Bellewood
    2. Granny and Mac
    3. I have been looking for a Bellewood (different records give different maiden names) supposedly born in Lexington, Ky on June 5, 1884. One record says her maiden name is Bellewood but another one says it is Eldridge or Aldrich. Her first name is Fanny or Frances. Her marriage cert. says her maiden name is Fannie Belle Eldridge - married Clyde Knapp on Feb 23, 1907 in Lexington. She is my husband's grandmother. If anyone can help sure would appreciate it. Annie
