I have a letter dated May 13, 1847, from a son (Alex J. Bourgoin) to his father, Joseph Bourgoin. Alex says he is writing from Bon harbor and father lives in Cincinnati. Alex says he is sick with dysentery and is leaving this place, so father should direct replies to Owensboro, Kentucky. I am unsuccessful in locating any place called Bon harbor. Alex's handwriting is very precise, so I do not think he means Bar Harbor. I have tried the 1895 atlas site for locations along the Ohio/Mississippi river and have tried USGS GNIS with no joy. Any ideas? Jim Kelly Austin, Texas
