SCIFRES was a storekeeper and miller there. If you'll remember, I wrote before because my gg-grandfather, William C. SCIFRES, son of David, and Davis DOUTHITT's first cousin, James Harvey DOUTHITT, were proprietors of DeGonia Springs Resort in Warrick Co., IN in the late 1880's. These families probably knew each other back as early as 1857, according to this entry! Come to think of it--David SCIFRES' 2nd wife was Delila MCDANIEL, d/o Joseph MCDANIEL. Don't know enough about the MCDANIEL line but I would be willing to bet that Davis' friend, Reason MCDANIEL, was somehow related. Don't know why I hadn't thought of that before! The SCIFRES/MCDANIEL marriage was 15 Oct 1824, 177 years ago today. Thanks again for continuing to post these journal entries! This sort of information adds much more to the picture than just barebones dates and places. Regards, Terri McDonald Hauk thauk@home.com
