    1. [KYDAVIES-L] For Michele in Memphis

    3. Michele, The first Catholic Church in Knottsville was St. Lawrence, founded in 1821. My index to Webb's Centenary of Catholicity in Kentucky says it is (as of 1983) still currently active. The same index shows a St. William's Church, founded in 1887, also in Knottsville, with St. Lawrence as a mission, or St. William as a mission of St. Lawrence. It, also, was still currently active in 1983. It's a bit confusing. Knottsville is not really big enough for two Catholic Churches. I guess you can take your pick. I'd be inclined to go with St. Lawrence, but can't really say for sure. Hope this helps. Loriprix@worldnet.att.net '
