I appreciate all the information everyone is passing along. I have received some wonderful information on a ferry that ran across to Indiana where the landing was called "Cypress Beach". I have been wondering for years if there was a ferry (in the 1800s) which ran from a point on the Kentucky side across the river to Yankeetown, IN. I have tried queries on the Indiana side;however, I haven't received a definitive response at this time as to points of origin on either side of the river at that time. It is possible that the points changed over the years as access was provided across the river. I have ancestors whose home was in Daviess County; however, he went across the river to Newburgh, IN, to his own tailor shop. I have been told that he, according to family stories, would spend a few weeks in Indiana and then cross into Kentucky to visit his family. However, I do know that most of his children were born in Indiana so I would suspect that they had a home there, also, on t! hat side of the river for awhile at least. From the information received last night, I believe his home would have been on the Kentucky side, across from the Alcoa plant. This would have been in the 1850s and 1860s. Thanks. Marilyn
