    3. March 1856 Sun 16 I staid at home all day. Mr and Mrs Black came down here A fine snow today. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Mo 17 I went to George Husks ; on business. and then when I came home and laid up some fence and asked hands to pit my saw stocks and after dinner pitted them assisted by S. W. Allen Wm Winkler S. R. Richmond and James H. Richmond. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Tu es 18 I went to a log roling at the widow Obryans ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- We 19 I helped H. H. Mcdaniel role logs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Thu 20 I made some plant beds and then I went to D F Winklers to take some cover lids home ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Fri 21 I burnt my plant bed, and fixed up to go to Owensboro and after dinner I helped Wm Winkler clean up ground ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Sat 22 I went to Owensboro with the wagon got back after night ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Mr & Mrs Black were his In-laws Willis John & Mary (Phillips) Black. Samuel Allen & George Husk were neighbors. The Richmonds, James & Sylvester were his 1st cousins. George Husk was James Richmonds father-in-law. "the widow Obryan" is a neighbor he helps frequently. " H H "is probably Hardin McDaniel also a neighbor. D F Winkler is David Francis Winkler, William's uncle and one of my great grandfathers through a different line. " Cover lids " were bed covers.
