March 1858 Su 7 I staid about home and in the evening I went to Lawsons ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Mo 8 We cut and halled wood a part of the day ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Tu 9 We went to mill ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- We 10 We halled a few oats and some fodder ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Th 11 I went to a buring of Mrs Adams and went to Husks shop to get some work done John shelled corn to send to mill ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Fri 12 John went to mill William Winkler I made plant beds apart of the day and loaded a part of my tobacco in Wm Winklers wagon ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------Sa 13 Wm Winkler halled a load of tobacco for me John cut some wood ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- I can't be sure since Adams is such a common name but I think that the "buring of Mrs Adams" may very well have been one of my great-greats Rebecca McDaniel Adams widow of Eli Adams. She was 80 years old in the 1850 census living with her daughter Frances and son-in-law David Winkler. She was not in the 1860 census. I couldn't identify any other missing Mrs Adams from the census but of course a lot happens in 10 years. You could marry and bury 3 or 4 husbands or wives.
