February 1857 Su 15 We started to Mrs. Obrians on a visit and I had to go to the school house to hunt up the benches door and other things that some body had mis placed and we found a part of them ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Mo 16 I raised my meet and resalted it and warned the hands to work the road next Friday and made a plant bed and burned it ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Tu 17 We made some plant beds and I had to go to Knottsville on a trial between Farrel and the trustees of district No. 76. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Wed 18 We made plant beds and burned them and it rained and I did not get them sowed while it was raining We shelled corn and then we cut fence roe awhile ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Thu 19 We fenced in our corn and fodder and in the evening I went to mill at Wm Husks got grinding ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Fr 20 We halled rails and made fence apart of the day and the wind got so high we had to quit work and I mended my bridles and put new ranes to one of them ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Sat 21 We halled rails and made fence cut out fence roes and W. J. Black and his wife came down and I did not do much more work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- I bet the Farrells , the trustees of District No 76 and the "misplaced" schoolhouse door would make a good story if we knew all the details
