Tucker pick seed corn to take home with him and then I got the sheep to shear and then went to laying off cornground and doctored my horses. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Tu 29 We helped Wm Winkler drag his colt off and then we commenced planting corn and at eleven oclock it commenced raining and in after the rain we planted corn again ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- We 30 We stripped tobacco until 2 oclock William helped us And in the evening we finished the first piece of corn ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Thursday May the 1st 1856 Th 1 I went to Hawesville and Elizabeth and Nancy and John finished stripping tobacco ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Fri 2 I laid off corn ground for William and John cleaned up ground and helped plant corn ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Sat 3 We helped William plant corn until 12 oclock and then I laid off corn ground apart of the evening.
