June 1856 Sun 22 I staid about home all day. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Mon 23 I cut a piece of wheel for Reason McDaniel I got done at eleven oclock and then I piddled around some and ploughed some corn in the orchard and James H Richmond helped William cut wheet in my place he was --------- John thinned corn for William ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Tue 24 I finished ploughing the orchard corn and we worked with our molasses and then came a little shower of rain and then I went to Yelvington to get a sythe but got none John thined corn for William Winkler ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Wed 25 I helped William finish his wheet we got done at 3 oclock and came home was all that I done John finished Williams corn and thined in ours ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Thu 26 I cut wheet for G Husk until dinner and then I had to go to Knottsville to attend a trial between Reason and Harden Mcdaniel ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Fri 27 I cut wheet for George Husk ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Sat 28 I cut a part of my wheet assisted by Wm Winkler S W Allen James and Jesse Richmond we got done at dinner I cut all that was ripe and shocked it after dinner I fixed the loom up and helped warp a piece of thread. ____________________________________________________________________________ ________________ Reason and Harden McDaniel were brothers according to The History of Daviess County
