1856 Su 8 I went to James Richmonds ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Mo 9 I ploughed corn John cut briers and bushes and Wm Winkler broke and harrowed my tobacco ground ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Tue 10 I finished ploughing the my second piece of corn at dinner John cut briers and sprouts after dinner I went and helped William work his young mare awhile and then I laid off my tobacco ground the first way and laid off a square in the garden for tobacco and John hilled ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- We 11 I laid off my tobacco ground the second way and made hills not quite done got about 500 hills to make ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Thu 12 We finished making our hills and then we helped James Richmond finish his hilling got done about 2 hours by sun we then got fish bate and went a fishing at night ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Fri 13 I piddled about apart of the day and ploughed the corn in the orchard John cut weeds and uncoverd corn ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Sat 14 I ploughed corn in the new ground until dinner and John cut bushes and planted pumpkin seed And after dinner I helped William Winkler hall hay got done before night
