Folks I've just made a strange discovery. I signed up on the Rootsweb site several weeks ago to receive a notification any item went through the lists with the names I was researching on it. Since my vow for the year is to find the ancestors of my GGF, Cenus Hardy KENNEDY, and since I have been searching for the elusive KENNEDY for years - I decided to be "smart" and just put the name "Cenus" as the name for the search engine to look for - mainly because there are so many spelling of KENNEDY/KENADY/CANADA/CANADY, etc. etc. etc. I am getting anywhere from 10 to 15 notifications per day matching "Cenus" . At first I was so excited because it was such an unusual name it must be him!!!! Do you know how many people misspell census!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been lucky enough yet to get anything but a misspelled census reference. All this time I've been told that Cenus was an Indian name given him by his part-Indian mother. Others said it was an Irish name given him by the KENNEDYs. Since my GAF was born in February, 1870, do you think they just named him "Census" and didn't know how to spell?
