I wish I knew if they shunned it as a Catholic holiday or if he just thought it was for the women and children and didn't concern him. I know they lived isolated lives but they must have been exposed to some of the Christmas customs of the time.

This will be the last entry for Davis Douthitt's Journal. Thanks to the list for allowing me to share him with you. I realize he was a boring old guy. I"m not sure that I would have liked him although I dearly loved his grandson, my gr-uncle Earle Douthitt. Posting to the list was all that kept me focused on the task of transcribing. At least 2 people now know more about the deaths of their ancestors and we all know a little more about how they lived so I don't feel that it was a waste. Dear Carol, I am sorry to learn Davis' journal is ended. I have enjoyed and have looked forward to each post these many months we have been blessed with their posting to the list. It is an insight to how life was lived in those times. Thank you for sharing the journal with the list. Regards, Virginia
Carol, I appreciate your sharing this journal with the list! Thank you so much for all your time and patience! I always looked forward to the next installment and will be sorry to see it go. It will be as if there is something missing from our list. I believe you have been transcribing for at least 2 years now!
