April 1857 Su 12 I came home ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Mo 13 I worked at my lot fence and cut and split some stakes and halled them and went to W Crows after a load of straw to fill the under beds John broak oats ground and laid off all that was broak up ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Tu 14 I sewed down 5 acres of oats nd finished my lot fence John harrowed the oats in ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- We 15 We moved our oaats and caught a lot of rats and fixed up the orchard and lot fence and moved the rails and put them up ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- April the 16th 1857 Th 16 We sowed down the oats and ploughed them in the orchard we finished sowing oats and in the evening we commenced cleaning up and breaking corn ground ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Fr 17 I halled wood from Wm Winklers clearing until dinner and it snowed so hard I quit John cut some wood and cleaned up some ground a fine snow ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Sa 18 I bottomed 2 chairs and went to Knottsville John cut some wood the ground is very wet from snow and big rain
