Hi Everyone,, I am new to the list and am looking forward to poking around in Daives Co. for some newly found relatives that were born there. Just last week, I recieved information from a long lost 3rd cousin in Odessa, Tx. that his father was born in Davies Co. If anyone could help me with this I would appreciate it. The story goes like this. William Simmons married Bettie Ford in West Ky. somewhere about 1897. They had 1 son, William Egbert, b. 1898 in Hickman Co. Ky. Then they had 2 more sons, but I never could figure out where they were born. The cousin from Odessa told me that 1 of the sons was born in Owensboro, which leads me to believe that the other one might have been born there also. (instead of going west, MY ancestors headed east,,, go figure). Here are the names and birthdates of the 2 sons. Wilburn Simmons b Mar 10, 1901 Jesse Franklin Simmons b Dec. 28, 1902 Cousin from Odessa said that he had heard whispers that the father, William Simmons was involved in horse stealing. I am wondering if he was caught and went to the pen there in Owensboro. The reason I am thinking this is that William and Bettie had another son, born 10 yrs later in Obion Co., Tn. I know that the father disappeared for a long time and my grandfather had to go live with relatives, because Grandma Bettie was having a hard time feeding the 3 boys. (She was back in Hickman Co., at that time.) If anyone can shed a little light on this mystery for me, I'd be ever so grateful. I was born and raised over around Hickman Co., Ky . but never have been to Owensboro. Thanks in advance for any help, Janice Watts Lester Nashville, Tn.
