Trying to help locata Martha Carroll after her husband Amos died in Owensboro....any ideas would be helpful, thank you..Nena <<Martha Carroll (maiden name unknown) was born about 1820-1825. Each early census is different. She was born in Germany. She and Amos Carroll moved alot. Taken from the 1860 census, oldest child William was born KY, ended up in IN. (Have his history). Sylvester born OH. Elijah born OH. Joseph born OH., I.A. born IN. Amos JR. b ky. Amos and Martha were living in Owensboro KY. when he died. There is a will on file that someone is trying to obtain for me. It may give some clues. I have checked the censuses for Martha with each of the children that I have been able to find. Sylvester died in the civil war. Joseph went to CA and returned to MO. Joseph settled in MO. I.A. -have not a clue as to her life. She was born abt 1856. Amos Jr. settled in MO. Have not found her with any of them, but have not been able to find the 1870 census for Elijah. In 1870 she should have had the 3 smallest kids with her. Joseph would have been 16 in 1870, I.A. 14, Amos Jr. about 10. She is probably right under my nose, but have been unable to find her. Elijah married in Fayette Co. IL in 1873 to Eliza Dempsey.
