    1. [KYDAVIES-L] Deed of Aloysius & Bazil Howard
    2. Harold Morgan
    3. Tony, you are a lucky guy. I read your KYDAVIES-L email Sunday and I had plans to stop by the Daviess County Court House for a couple of ancestral deeds of my own so I found a copied the deed you queried. (You wanted something from Deed Book H and so did I.) The deed is nice and has clear script, easy to read. It is dated May 1, 1847 between Bazil P. Howard and Monica, his wife selling to selling 151.5 acres to Aloysius Howard for $300. The land is "on the waters of Panther Creek" and that is a very large area. If I understand the deed correctly (it is a little complicated at first read), Aloysius is to find and pay $100 each to Jon or Js Allen, Thos Barnett and Wm Rowan under some defined conditions. (The deed is of some interest to me as it mentions a "dogwood in Morgan's line", I am wondering which Morgan this may be, I am related to most Daviess County Morgans.) If you want me to mail the copies to you then I will need your address. Why don't you send it to me at hmorgan@evansville.net so as to keep it a little private. I will post my Howard relatives tonight to see if anyone can add some names for me. I'd be glad to pay for it. Anna Hamilton in "Howards of Whitesville" states that Charles Howard died, without a Will, in 1845, on the 303 acre farm near Lafoone where he lived. She states that the farm was sold by the children in 1847. --- "Aloysius, Basil, Richard and all, sell the land (see book H 408 in Daviess Co. Kentucky.)" William, Gay, Matt and Ashton Mathis walked and transcribed this cemetery Thanksgiving weekend while her family was home. Gay and William finished it off a couple of weeks later and Gay has typed it all for us. This is a monumental accomplishment for us because New Haven Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Lake County and therefore contains the majority of our ancestors. I am posting this notice to other lists that I know had a large migration from that county or area into the Lake County area. Please go to: http://web4.ecsis.net/~lmoore/index.html Click on the "Cemeteries" link and then on the "New Haven" link. PLEASE NOTE: The search engine which is on the main Lake County TNGen Site will not have these names in it until midnight Sunday - when my search engine reindexes the whole site - therefore you can go to the page and use the "Edit" "Find" to locate a particular name. The library is in 6 sections and the first 4 sections were included in Sunday night's index round but the last two sections were not. This is a great donation to the genealogical community and I thank Gay again for providing this for us. 3. Yes, absolutely question the IGI or any other LDS non-primary source records. For instance look up William Duncan and/or Ruth Raleigh, Rawley or Browning, his wife. They are given by the LDS as fact and they have multiple different dates of birth for both ranging from 1692 to 1725. Nobody can even prove that any one of those is her maiden name. The bad part is that somebody had a bible record for them that says their eldest son was born in 1723, some of the marriage dates for them in the IGI are as late as 1757. Watch those Duncan's in general, they are full of mythology and LDS has picked up every bit of it and treated it as fact! Be FULL of suspicion when viewing any LDS "record". On a couple of occasions, I've contacted the submitters of the data and told them to correct it. Those were biggie errors where someone had abstracted my family data and claimed they were related. And, of course they weren't related at all. If someone does find an ancestor on the IGI, it is best to order in the microfilm and check it out for accuracy. On the other hand, the IGI is useful as it usually gets you to the village or town where these people lived. On other hand, it can mislead you. The IGI is not a primary source.
