    1. [KYDAVIES-L] CLARK, NIX, SIMMONS
    2. Artis
    3. Jude, This is a fishing expedition. All I have is a James CLARK in Spencer County somewhere between 1833 and 1843. He apparently married a dau of William B. HEAD from Frederick Co., MD. I can't figure out which dau in Wm. B's will dated 1833. James had a chancery court case in Spencer Co., probably something to do with his wife's share (she must have been deceased by this time). I was hoping someone had info re James and/or his case. I need to know if he mentions the other heirs who are located in Daviess Co., KY. If so, I will need to get a copy of the record. This could prove that Wm. B's deceased brother and heir, Cecilius HEAD, was the parent of my Richard (b 1809, d. 1875). James E. and Jane NIX of Washington Co., KY had a dau, Mary E. NIX (b 1843). James E. died by 1860 and I haven't found out if Jane remarried. In 1861 Mary E. SIMMONS, age 17, mar Benjamin H. JACKSON in Bullitt Co. The mar record noted that Mary's father, James E. NIX, was deceased. It appears the two oldest Nix boys were sent out to work on their own and Mary after age 7 was either raised or adopted by a SIMMONS family. Mary denies knowing who her parents are in any other later records. I need to know what happened to her mother, her siblings, and who was the SIMMONS family who took her in and why. Any help would be most appreciated. Artis POWERS So. 3. I am still looking for any children of the following: FRANK(s)—Bobbie and wife Sarah E KIPER Bobbie (James Robert) married Sarah Dec 20, 1903 in Grayson County Ky. Bobbie was the son of Ezra Ward Frank and Margaret Spencer. Sarah was the daughter of Bates Kiper and Cora Craig. They are buried in Calvert Cemetery in Breckinridge county KY near McDaniels. I visited the cemetery in April of this year, 2003. There was a bouquet of flowers on the marker The grave marker has FRANK FATHER Bobbie 1877-1936 MOTHER Sarah. 1881-1952. Bobbie and Sarah appear in the Springfield, IL city directories for the following years—1917, 1918, 1923, and 1925. He worked at various factories in Springfield-Weavers etc.

Bob and Nena, I did most those things for too many years! Those memories are not pleasant ones for me, just a lot of hard work!--and I do give thanks for my many blessings. Life is so much easier now-just which it was then and I'd had more free time for my kids.

    3. A comment on this-which will date me, but no biggie....I have seen this bef and actually do have it over my 'today's washer'....but I well remember when I was a kid staying summers on my grandparents ranch in SW Texas.....this was exact picture of what my 'Moma' did on wash day! Lets say this was abt the yr 1950-1955. They had no running water in their ranch house....they did have a hand pump on the back porch to bring in daily water, and they got their water by the turning of the ole windmill...SW Tx had alot of wind. My bro and I use to get in the ole trough out there [if we could sneak out without being found too quick] and take a great cool dip in those hot SW Tx sun days. At nite we took our bath in an ole aluminum bath tub in the kitchen filled with heated water fr the ole wood stove [one in kitchen, one in living/bedroom]. For hair washing though, it was rain water all the way, from the ole rain barrel with a screen on top to catch the critters.....ohhh, for the good ole days! I enjoyed it and cherish those memories anyway. To have life so simple and sweet now as then. Thanks for sharing, just brings back memories I treasure and glad to have been a part of.
