    1. [KYDAVIES-L] 4th Street Presbyterian Church
    2. Ginny and Ike
    3. Dear List, In an obituary that I am researching, the funeral services were held at the Fourth Street Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. This funeral took place 15 October 1922 and was conducted by Rev. E. E. Smith. Does anyone know if the 4th Street Presbyterian Church still exists or is it part of another church now? What has happened to the records from this church? Thanks, Ginny

    1. [KYDAVIES-L] Re: WILKEY OBIT & NAME
    2. Thanks so much for the obit on Dorothy Wilkey. Surely appreciate your time and trouble. As for the Wilkey/Whelchel mystery! The entire family is still trying to figure out when/where/why the name change! Some members of this family went by the name Wilkey, some by Whelchel. Several of these people resided in Owensboro. I suspect the above mentioned Dorothy is one of those whose family began as Whelchel! The pronunciation/sound of these 2 names is not AT ALL similar! Since most of my OLDEST Wilkey/Whelchel relatives are now gone - I suppose my quest for answers will last a long, long time! Thanks again for all the help. One more possible family contact in Owensboro! L. Livers

    3. Louise, Ancestry.com has the images for each state, but only a few states are indexed and searchable by name of individual. The other states you must look through page by page. This is time consuming under the best of circumstances but even more so when the images are not where they are supposed to be. The problem is that at least some of the Kentucky counties, Daviess being one of them, are messed up. If you have an Ancestry.com Census Subscription, you can go to Ancestry.com, U.S. Census Records and Images, click on 1860, scroll down the list of states and click on Kentucky. You will then get a list of all the Kentucky counties. Click on Daviess and you SHOULD come up with the images of the 1860 census of Daviess County, however you get Estill County instead. Click of Estill and you also get Estill. Click on Cumberland and you get the images for Edmondson County which you also get if you click on Edmondson. Daviess County may be hidden somewhere among the 100+ counties, but I haven't found it so far. 3. I reported this problem to Ancestry back in January. They said they were aware of the problem. I don't think the 1860 for Daviess is out there anywhere in Ancestry's data. If enough people write to them and complain, maybe they will fix it. I got the impression it was not a simple thing to fix. 1. [KYDAVIES-L] WILKEY/WHELCHEL
    2. I am curious; does anyone know the connection between WILKEY and WHELCHEL?  Is WILKEY a transliteration of WHELCHEL? Does WHELCHEL, pronounced aloud by a true speaker of the German language, sound like WILKEY?  That's a stretch. Cookie, a Hoosier in Florida        <<   GreystokeB@aol.com   >>

    2. Hi, Would you happen to have any LIVERS listed in the cemetery? They married into the Carricos at one time. Also - if it's not too much trouble - am researching LOSTUTTER AND WILKEY/WHELCHEL. Thanks so much for your help and time! L. Livers
