    1. [KYDAVIES-L] Jessie Carolyn Jarboe
    2. The KY Vital Records birth index lists Jessie C Jarboe b. August 7, 1918 as the daughter of Harriet Wimsatt, not Anna Isabella Medley. Not sure who her father was. But considering that Anna Isabell was b. 7/1905 and William R Jarboe b. 3/1906, they would have been 13 & 12 respectively when Jessie was born. I don't have a Harriet Wimsatt married to a Jarboe in my family file. Bob Alvey

    3. Does anybody know anything about the newest upgrade to AOL Instant Messenger? I almost had my system back up and running almost correctly, then reinstalled the newest upgrade to AOL Instant Messenger, and started having failures again, particularly in my mouse drivers, which cascaded into complete system failures. I think I may have averted the same problems that have been plagueing me for a week, by shutting off, rebooting, and using the keyboard (but not the mouse) to get it uninstalled and reinstalling my mouse software from scratch. That seems to be the only consistent thing in these repeated crashes and problems the last two weeks. This has caused me two weeks of pain and anguish, including 2 hard crive crashes, 3 reformats and 3 reinstallations of Windows 98. If you have not downloaded version 3.5 of AOL Instant Messenger, DON'T! If you know anything about it, please contact me. I hope that I will be able to get the e-mail. If you have e-mailed me, please be patient, after I fight this latest crash off, I will attempt to get started at catching up with my backlog of 1500 messages. Patrick Hays http://www.migrations.org

    3. I have posted a picture of James Thomas Whitmer and a young unidentified girl at http://www.myfamily.com/security/new.asp?ID=39074ACAAF7C146&C=MI1808554 I believe the photo was taken ca 1923 in Owensboro. James Whitmer was the son of John R. Whitmer who was killed in Owensboro in 1923 and Lillian Whitmer who died in 1944. His siblings were Letitia Whitmer Kirk and Rev. Marvin Brown Whitmer. His wife was Ruby Frank Whitmer. He attended Owensboro Senior High School and was graduated about 1924. James was the night editor for the Owensboro Messenger and Inquirer for a number of years. I would like to know the identity of the girl and/or the meaning of the shield on his jacket pocket. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you. Joseph W> Kirk jkirk@flex.net

    3. Judy: You can buy Daviess Co. order book #D from the West KY Family Research Association and it is also available in many libraries. WKYFRA was dislocated by the Jan 3 Owensboro tornado but I understand their inventory survived. I think their mailing address is PO Box 1932, Owensboro, KY 42301. Someone will correct me if I am wrong. The book sells for about $12. There is a somewhat outdated list of all WKY books at http://members.aol.com/sammcpub/cat2ky.htm The family records books put out annually by the WKYFRA are also great. There is a cumulative index to the first ten years--I don't see it on the web page--and then annual indexes after that. They are one of my best Daviess Co. research tools. I was consekently compelled to go it blind. Sittin down by the road side I drawd up the follerin lists of questions which I proposed to ax the people I visited: Wat's your age? Whar was you born? Air you marrid and if so how do you like it? How many children have you and do they sufficiently resemble you as to proclood the possibility of their belongin to any of your nabers? Did you ever have the measels and if so how many? Have you a twin brother several years older than yourself? How many parents have you? Do you read Watt's Him regler? Do you use boughten tobacker? Wat's you fitin wate? Air you troubled with biles? How does your meresham culler? State whether you are blind, deaf, idiotic or got the heaves. Do you know any Opry singers and if so how much do they owe you? Wat's the average of virtoo on the Ery Canawl? If 4 barrils of Emptins pored onto a barn floor will kiver it how many plase can Dion Bouriecault write in a year? Is beans a regler article of diet in your family? How many chickens hav you, on foot or in the shell? Air you aware that Injianny whiskey is used in New York shootin galrys instid of pistills and that it shoots furthest? Was you ever at Niagry Falls? Was you ever in the Penitentiary? State how much pork, impendin crysis, Dutch Cheeze, popler suvrinty, Standard poetry, chidrens strainer's, catnip, red flannel, ancient histry, pickled tomaters, old junk, perfoomery, coaloile, liberty, hoop skirts have you on hand? But it didn't work. I got into a row the fust house I stopt to, with some old maids. Disbelieven the answers they giv in regard to their ages I endevered to open their mouths and look at their teeth, same as they do with horses, but they floo into a vilent rage and tackled me with brooms and sich. Takin the sences requires experiense, like any other biziniss. [taken from Kentucky Pioneer Genealogy & Records - July 1981] --------------8F696DA54DA0538FFE4AAFC0--

    2. RICHARD CARTER
    3. Seeking any information on a Margaret SPHAR, died 1843, who might have married a Thomas BALDWIN/BALDON/BOLDEN/BOLDON, in mid to late 1700s. I have had other inquiries on this same person, but, with a diferent spelling. I just became aware of this spelling Dick Carter rcar37@prodigy.net
