I am looking for info on my gg grandfather Emmett Bassett McCormicks parents. I know that Emmett B. was born in Kentucky in April 1854-5. I believe he spent the better part of his life in the town of Owensboro(Owensborough), but don't know if he was born there. He married and had 3 children. Rodman D., Sarah D., and Emmett A. I have been told his wife died when Sarah was about three years old. So I believe he married a second time to a Lena L. Emmett B. died Sept. 13, 1930 at 76 years of age. When Emmetts wife passed away his daughter Sarah went to live with her aunt Sallie Doly or Daly, who ran a bording house in Lexington, KY......If I could get any info on Emmett B.s parents or siblings I would be very grateful. Thanks so much. Lynette laj1009@aol.com

Ancestry.com is offering free access to all of its databases through December 21. This is your chance to see why more than 270,000 researchers have chosen to subscribe to Ancestry.com in their quest to discover their family's history. Included in the offer is access to the images of original census records that Ancestry.com recently began posting. These top-quality images represent a more true-to-life depiction of the records and are in most cases better than the original in readability. Ancestry.com's Images Online are scanned in 256 shades of gray to allow for variations in tone, as opposed to the less expensive method of bi-tonal technologies used by competitors. The entire set of U.S. Federal Censuses is expected to be online by spring 2001. A year's access to these images will only cost current Ancestry.com members an additional $39.95, as opposed to competitive offerings that in recent interviews quoted impending subscription costs at as much as $99! In other words, for $99.90 ($59.95 regular subscription + $39.95 Images Online subscription)--which is the price competitors are charging for census only--Ancestry.com members will get access to the census Images Online in better form, plus access to all of Ancestry.com's other offerings. These offerings include such landmark databases as the "PERiodical Source Index (PERSI)," the Biography and Genealogical Master Index (BGMI), the American Genealogical- Biographical Index (AGBI), the 1890 Census Reconstruction Project, the Civil War Research Database, and Slave Narratives, just to name a few. But that's not all. Ancestry.com has been adding databases at a record-breaking pace and is on target to have more than 1 BILLION records online by the end of the year. Recent additions include: --- "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33" (see a sample entry at: http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/news/articles/2071.asp) --- The New York City police census of 1890 --- 1910 Miracode indexes for Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Virginia --- Statewide vital records indexes for a growing number of states --- New York's naturalization petition index of 1907-24 --- Iowa cemeteries --- And much more! Now for a limited time, new members of Ancestry.com will get $10 off the price of an annual data subscription, giving you a year's access to the No. 1 genealogical site on the Internet for only $49.95. And as an added bonus, we'll include a FREE Ancestry Reference Library CD-ROM (a $49.95 value itself!), which includes 15 genealogy reference books to help you research like a pro! We're confident that once you have gotten a taste, you won't want to be without continuous access to our site! To Bill Hicks Bill I checked the 1850 census for Daviess Co for the Morgans for you, thats the only thing that I have at home that I could check and it does not have anything that connects with your Morgans as far as I could determine. I do know about the house on Frederica St that you are referring to, That House was unoccupied for several years until it was bought by Dr Orrahood, I think that it was empty from the late 50s until at least 1966.Dr Orrahood remodeled the place and it is now a beautiful home, Dr. Orrahood died a few months ago. Looking for information on Fannie Morehead Morgan of Daviess Co. Fannie Morgan was a cousin of my great-grandmother Eda Ross Mahan of Muhlenberg Co. The Morgans lived in a large two-story brick home on Highway 431 South of Owensboro. Up until about the '60s this home was in the country. Now it is surrounded by businesses. The last time I was in Owensboro, in the early '90s, I was told the home was occupied by the Dr. David Orrahood (sp.?) family. Fannie Morgan's parents were possibly Charles Morehead, born in Daviess County in 1835, and Corine J.(Jennie) Ross born in Muhlenberg Co. in 1839 and died in Owensboro April 16, 1920. The Morgans had two daughters, Grace and Bessie. Grace married a Rogers, possibly John Rogers. Appreciate whatever information anyone can provide. Bill Hicks

I have a little info on Coleman Fuqua, but there may have been more than one with that name in Daviess County at the same time. I have assumed Coleman was brother of John Smith Fuqua, s/o Sam Fuqua & Nancy Wells. My ancestor, Mary Elizabeth, d/o J.S., w/o J.R. Thompson, named a son Coleman. In 1876, Coleman owned farm adjoining J.S. On 1850 Census : Fuqua, Coleman 22, Delphina 19, James H. 1/2 In '99 I rcvd frm robykamp@bellsouth.net some notes that include: Coleman Fuqua, b. 6-17-1826 in Henry Co., KY, bur. Cooper Cemetery, near Whitesville in 1876. They also show: "Notes on Richard Booker Fuqua: Listed in 1850 census as unmarried- living at home with parents ? and as Richard C." "Burial 1919 Fordsville Cemetery, Ohio Co. KY." "Census 1850 Dist. 1, House #269" "More about Sarah Jane Barrett: Census: Dist. 1 House #269" ???????????? Greetings everyone, Many of you are aware that a group of calibrators are in process of enlisting a French genealogist to do some work on the Jarboe Line prior to the immigrant, Lt. Col John Jarboe's arrival in the colonies. Our researcher, Mr. Olivier Marsaudon has asked if we know the name the ship that he arrived on, the date of arrival, it's port of entry, and the port of departure. One of his expertise is in Maritime history. If anyone could help with addressing these questions it would be most helpful. I understand that the first record of John Jarboe was found in York, Va now Elizabethtown, VA. I have no date or documentation of this and would appreciate assistance. I have seen some dates of 1639 & 1641 but, have no proofs. Sure do need some clarification and ask for your assistance. With regards, Randy Dunavan Longview, Texas

I'm looking at a property map of Boston Precinct in 1876. John Smith Fuqua's 150 acre farm was on the Boston Road, south of New Boston (official name in 1864, when a Postoffice was there)with Coleman Fuqua's farm joining it's east side. Basil Howards farm joins Smith on the south side along the Road. Smith had another 85 Acres joining Basil to the south. Horace Burton had 260 a. on E. edge of New Boston, and looks like a church and cemetery on his property. A. Cecil (or A. Cessell) had farm SW of town. Bet the sale was in vicinity of Boston. Tony

This is my gg grandfather William Berry Morgan 1814-1864 Kentucky. The violin may have been bought by his widow listed as "L. Morgan", (not marked as paid). I do not know what happened to his widow. I have tried to duplicate the original spelling as closely as possible. I would love to know what area this sale took place. The 1860 census states "Burtonsville area", I expect it took place in the Masonville-Whitesville-Boston area. Do you have any idea? Do you connect to the great list of buyers?
