He has done extensive research on the Howton family, and went to reunions, visited graves, etc. I would suggest that you find out from him, WHERE Jonathon and Ann got married, in the USA. Then, you might want to visit the records office in that town, and get copy of the certificate. Good luck, and ALOHA from Hawaii,

You said that a Stephen Jones SR born 1767 in MD was the father of a Stephen Jones JR born 1778 in KY. This means Stephen Jones SR and his Unknown Wife had some VERY YOUTHFUL SEX when Stephen Jones SR was about Age 11 (1778 minus 1767) Let me know your sources of information!!! George

I don't know whether this Thomas Lincoln was tied to Abraham Lincoln's father, but the Lincolns of what is now eastern Metcalfe and Green Counties were. I do not know if this Lincoln clan ever claimed that Thomas Lincoln lived among them, but they do claim the kinship, respectfully. This should be cleared up. As for the Jones family, I have done research on some of the lines in Barren, but have not come across any info on your line. If I do, I'll keep you in mind.

In Jan., 1802 and again in 1804 he was appointed constable. On Sept. 5, 1802, he was commissioned ensign in Cornstalk Militia of Cumberland County. Returned to Washington County. Married Nancy Hanks 1806. To this union Pres. Lincoln was born. Thomas brought to Ky. from Va. as a child, 1782. *************************** I am a JONES historian and genealogy researcher. My Jones line (1798 -1834) comes from the Meshack Creek area of Monroe Co. Kentucky (Cumberland Co up to 1820). I am researching the Jones ancestors of my GGG Grandfather Lemuel Jones and his twin brother Stephen Jones. Lemuel Jones married a Sarah Kirkpatrick about 1804 / 1805. Stephen Jones married an Elizabeth Black, daughter of Joseph Black. I know these Jones were twins and came from Virginia ... but specifically where in Virginia and who their Mother and Father names are have been researched since 2003 ... with no sure results other than it is believed their father was a William Jones. In my research of landowners near these Jones, I found a Thomas Lincoln had land in the early 1800s joining Meshack Creek / Turkey Neck Bend (Cumberland River) land of Gee / Jones / Kirkpatrick. I AM 99% CERTAIN THIS THOMAS LINCOLN IS NOT THE "FATHER" OF PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN! Hence, I believe the info on the website: http://www.burkesville.com/chamber/location.html is wrong. As is: http://www.burkesville.com/html/area_history.html Also wrong is: http://kentucky.gov/kyhs/hmdb/MarkerSearch.aspx?mode=County&county=29 And this Historical Marker: http://www.burkesville.com/html/historical_landmarks.html This Thomas Lincoln (born about 1780 in KY and died 1844 in IN) This Tomas Lincoln married about 1799 his neighbor Martha Patsy Gee (born 2/21/1782 in VA), daughter of Jesse Gee. In Cumberland Co KY, this Thomas Lincoln lived right next to his father, Hannaniah Lincoln. These Lincolns moved from Cumberland Co Kentucky in about 1810 to Ohio and later to Indiana. They had 10 children. In addition, in 1802, Jesse Gee along with Moses Kirkpatrick (my GGGG Grandfather) signed a bond as constable for Thomas Lincoln. This Thomas Lincoln was not the father of President Abraham Lincoln. I can provide more information as needed. I hope the State of Kentucky and Cumberland Co Kentucky officials will investigate and take corrective action. George Jones joneshistorian@yahoo.com PS: I would appreciate any leads regarding the birthplace / birthdate / parents of Lemuel Jones or Stephen Jones.
