In 1880 I have a Granville Parker in Scott Co., Tennessee who had a servant by the name of Abertine/Alvertain (sp) Cecil. By 1900 they were married and had been married 19 years, so obviously marrying in 1881. After some research I finally found in the 1870 census (Clinton Co.) Alvertain's mother - a Rachel Cecil who was born in 1835 in Kentucky. I believe she died before 1880. There were two other children in that census with them a Saphronia (sp) and a Mary. In this census Rachel was living just a few doors down from another Cecil, a Surelda (I believe the widow of James Cecil). In the 1860 census I find in Larue Co., a W. W. Cecil his wife Rachel, and a Wm. and a S. E. I am thinking maybe the S. E. is the Saphronia from the 1870 census. And it looks like that after 1860 the W Cecil died, and Rachel moved to Clinton Co., and was living near Surelda, but not sure why, yet. Does this sound familiar to anyone at all.
