    3. I can tell you a couple of things; I just today returned from a trip to Clinton County--all the way from Texas. The ladies in the courthouse were very nice; they told me I could stay all day if I wanted. Copies are 25 cents per page. Unfortunately, the courthouse burned during the Civil War, so there isn't much before that time. I was so lucky that a lady from Nashville, Tennessee, just happened to be there researching. (I think she said she grew up in Clinton County.) She knew where to find the copy of the one deed book that partially survived the fire. She helped me find wills and other documents and even ran the copies for me. They were in Will Book 1 and Will Book 2, and they are indexed. The public Library has a genealogy section. There are quite a few marriage records there and a lot of other things, but I ran out of time. I was pleased to find the 1840 census on microfilm. There is a lot of information there on microfilm.
