Hello Hunter researchers, While the Hunter thread is alive, I'll take a stab with my Hunters. My great-grandfather was Thomas J. Hunter, born 1876 in Kentucky, d. 1903 in Collin Co., TX. These dates are from his tombstone in Coffman Cemetery near Anna, TX. In 1900, my Thomas Hunter was enumerated in Collin Co., TX as a son of Matilday Hunter, widow, age unknown. Thomas was listed as born July 1878. Another son was named Joe Louis, born Mar 1882. All were born in KY. I haven't been able to locate Matilday nor Joe Louis after 1900. Going back to 1880, the only Thomas J. I can find within a 2-3 years birth date is the son of Lewis Parker Hunter and Matilda Hopkins of Clinton Co. Their son was born in 1878 according to the census. They also had son, Albert, born 1880. Some years ago, a Hunter researcher told me he was "an authority" on the Hunters and that these two Matildas are not the same person. He said that Lewis Parker remarried after Matilda's death to E. A. Hudson. I've checked for probate in Clinton Co. but didn't find either listed in the records. I'm certainly not a Hunter authority and I may wind up with egg on my face, but I STILL believe that Lewis Parker and Matilda Hunter of Clinton Co. may be my line and that the son of William and Martha (Ellis) Hunter was the Lewis Parker who married E. A. Hudson. Unfortunately, Thomas didn't make it into the probate records nor does he have a death certificate to work with. I also have a picture that has written on the back "Maude Hunter mama's old maid aunt". 'Mama' was my grandmother, Grace Hunter Henson, the only descendant of Thomas J. Hunter and Nancy Anna Minton. Knowing my aunt who wrote on the picture, I am keeping an open mind about the first name and possibly the relationship. Thanks for reading, Janet Cook
