    1. Re: [KYCLINTO] Wagon Train from Clinton co KY to TX (SMITH)
    2. There may have been multiple migrations from Clinton county KY to Texas. At least one son from the family of Robert C SMITH (b abt 1802, VA) and Cynthia D Ragle (b Jan 1813, VA) relocated to Texas. The widowed Cynthia, my wife's 2nd great grandmother, also went and was still alive and living with her son George SMITH in 1900. George and family were in Fannin county, TX at that time. The pattern of birth states for his children indicates the family relocated from KY to TX before about Sept of 1884. By 1910 the family were in Hunt county, and lived in or around Greenville. 2. http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/KK/hrk7.html The North Texas area saw many settlers from Kentucky. Some of the families I am familiar with who migrated from Clinton Co. to the vicinity of Van Alstyne and Whitewright in Grayson, Tx. area of Grayson were Hopkins, Neathery, Grider, Hunter, Guthrie, Brammer, & Mann. ----- Original Message ----- From: <KELKEV956@cs.com> To: <KYCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 13, 2005 11:48 PM Subject: Re: [KYCLINTO] Wagon Train from Clinton co KY to TX (SMITH) > There may have been multiple migrations from Clinton county KY to Texas. > At > least one son from the family of Robert C SMITH (b abt 1802, VA) and > Cynthia D > Ragle (b Jan 1813, VA) relocated to Texas. 3. I noticed that one of the books cited at http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/KK/hrk7.html was A History of Grayson County by Mattied D. Lucas and Mita H. Hall. Mrs. Hall was the daughter of John Wright Holsapple, who represents one of several Holsapple branches to come from Kentucky to Texas. He came from Calloway Co., I believe. Does anyone know anymore about his ancestry? My own Holsapples are from Clinton Co., descendents of Jacob Holsapple and Catherine Van Meter Holsapple. In my research, I've found Holsapples scattered throughout (mostly) the western half of Kentucky. Has anyone been able to connect them? I find it astounding that there can be as many branches of a family, with a not very common name, all in the same part of the state without their being related. Jacob and Catherine had at least 12 children of record. I don't believe all of their descendents are accounted for either. Any help out there, especially with the less researched children? -- Patrick J. McCann, Jr. Dallas, TX CRESCIT SUB PONDERE VIRTUS
