This was published in "The Oklahoman" newspaper in Oklahoma City. Thought it might be of interest to some of you folks on the list. I found several land records that were very helpful. The Bureau of Land Management-Eastern States recently announced that the General Land Office Records Web site is back on line at www.glorecords.blm.gov. The project has scanned and imaged more than 4.2 million records since 1989. Records include homesteads, patents, military warrants, and railroad grants from the 30 public land states dating back to the 1780's. They are searchable by state and surname. Scanned images of the original records can also be downloaded and printed. also, further down in the article . . . The Missouri State Archives Land Patents Project has transcribed information from the land patents and created an online database at . . . www.sos.mo.gov/archives/land. Patents list the name of the person(s) who aquired the land, the purchase date and patent date, as well as a legal land description including township and range, name of county and number of acres sold.
