I also would be very interested in any Shelley history. I just recently found out that my gr gr grandmother was a Shelley from Clinton County, KY. Her death certificate states she is Bettie Wright (which I think her name "could have been" Rebecca Elizabeth Shelley Wright, but went by the name Bettie....but not confirmed yet...) Her death certificate also states she was the daughter of Abraham Blair and Magdelina (sp) Shelley. My Bettie also was the wife of Riley Wright. I am thinking his name "could have been" James Riley Wright, but still have not proven that yet, as this is a new brick wall I am trying to knock down. I find my Bettie, again, in Cumberland County, KY, living with her daughter, Sarah Wright Sheckles. I have investigated a little bit further on Sarah, and her death certificate does state her parents as being Riley and Bettie Wright. In addition to that, I also find that Sarah's husband was Tilman Sheckles from Clinton County, Albany, KY. I only found one Tilman Sheckles in Albany, but he was way too old to have been her husband at that time. The Tilman Sheckles I find did indeed have a wife named Sarah, but she died 6/22/1863. He was born 2/6/1837 and died 9/8/1902 and had a second wife, Mary E. who was born 2/19/1840 and died 2/13/1900. I also wonder if there was a Tilman Sheckles Jr., maybe? I know all of this is on speculation right now, but this is a brand new door of my line of genealogy and I am very excited to find others who may be researching this line.
