Alexander was born in 1769 according to his tombstone. Elizabeth was born in 1779 according to hers. Yes, they both died on December 27, 1863. Any idea as to why the same date. I ask because the area on Hays Creek was filled with violence about that time. You can see the site of Champ Ferguson's house from the Hays Cemetery. Alexander Hays, born on April 13, 1847 also died on July 26, 1863. That year seemed to be a gloomy period in the Hays history. Please go to this cemetery whenever possible. The cattle have just about destroyed the tombstones. Gary D.
