    3. Hi all. I am looking for descendants of Asa PAYNE who was born about 1812, and Mahala GUFFEY who was born about 1824. They were married in Wayne Co., KY in 1844. By 1850 they resided in Clinton Co., KY. I have a picture of Mahala taken in the mid 1800's, and another picture that I believe is of her included in a group photograph. I am hoping to be able to confirm that the picture in the group photograph was her. The picture I have of her from the mid 1800's is confirmed as being her. The group picture which (I believe) includes her is one that I believe to be of my GG grandfather, Mathew YORK, his children from his first marriage to Syrene PAYNE (d/o Asa and Mahala), and others who are likely other relatives of Mahala. I would appreciate hearing from descendants of Asa and Mahala, as well as those descendants of Mathew YORK and his second wife, Louisa Jane GUFFEY. 3. HI Teresa and Lisa, Buford Rigney, b. 1816 in Pittsylvania Co., VA was my 2-gr grandfather. I descend from he and his wife Annjeanette Young Rigney, through their son, Josiah Rigney, b. 1868 in Fentress Co., TN. I had in my database that Buford Rigney, b. 1816 was married first to a woman named Lucinda, b. 1813. They had eight children. I thought he married next a woman named Patsy Mitchell with whom he had William T. Rigney, b. 1854 and died in 1934. He then married my 2-gr grandmother, Annjeanette Young with whom he had five more children of which my gr-grandfather, Josiah Rigney was one. Are you saying that Patsey Mitchell was actually Peggy Reno? If so, I would love to have the correct information on this Patsey Mitchell. The information I have is that Buford Rigney, b. 1816, VA was the brother, of William Rigney, b. abt 1810 who married Susannah Carter. I would love to have the information on Waymon L. Rigney also. I have that he was born 1859 in Clinton Co., KY and died in 1926 buried in the Caney Ford Cemetery in Etiole, Barren Co., KY. I don't have the information on his wife. William Rigney, b. abt 1810 and Buford Rigney, b. 1816 were sons of Griffith Rigney, b. abt 1785 and Lavina Taylor, b.abt 1789 who married in 1805 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. I would love to exchange information with you both. Best regards, Joanna Smith Dun tjham51@peoplepc.com wrote: > Hi, Thomas. I am Teresa Jo (Smith) Hamilton. 2. Hi, Thomas. I am Teresa Jo (Smith) Hamilton. I have been doing a lot of looking around for family too. There is a William Rigney in my family. He is my Great-great-grandfather. My William was born April 01, 1854 in Kentucky. His Father and Mother were also from Kentucky. His fathers name was Buford Rigney born in 1816. His Mother was Peggy Reno not sure when she was born. Still doing a lot of looking myself. Williams Daughter Minnie was the 2nd wife of my great-grandfather Robert Lafayette "Lafe" Smith. If this is in your line let me know. I have yet to run into any in my family that is looking. It would be nice to know I am not out here alone. Hope this can help. Surnames: Shelley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jAB.2ACI/1814.1.1 Message Board Post: I am a little confused by your message. The information I have is that William Crane Shelley married Francis Chilton. And William Crane Shelley is the son of Daniel, not the other way around. Please clarify your statement so I may see how it fits with the 1860 and 1870 census records on this family. (see below what I have on this couple). I can easily see how the census entry for Francis J. may have really been an I in hard to read handwriting and am happy to learn that her middle name was Ione. Do you know when and where Francis died? Did William remarry a younger woman after Francis died? Or is there a mistake in the 1870 census? Do you have additional information on the children? Who they married? When and where they lived and died? Here is what I have gathered: William Crane SHELLEY. Born on 10 Apr 1825 in Clinton County, KY. William Crane died on 27 Feb 1872; he was 46. Listed in Clinton County, KY Census in 1860, with wife, Frances J. , and two daughters. In the 1870 census the wife is listed as Nancy J., age 32, born in KY, with five children. On 13 Aug 1855 when William Crane was 30, he married Francis (Fannie) J. CHILTON. Born in 1839 in Rockingham County, VA. They had the following children: 1. Mary H. SHELLEY. Born on 25 May 1856 in KY. 2. Martha Ellen SHELLEY. Born on 7 Oct 1858 in KY. 3. Lewis C. SHELLEY. Born in 1861. 4. William A. SHELLEY. Born in 1866. 5. John H. D. SHELLEY. Born in 1868. Initials for John are sometimes listed as R. D. or H. D., could be that the census interpretors are having trouble reading the old writing.

    1. Thomas Jefferson PIERCE
    2. Gene Kathryn Johnson
    3. I'm interested in correpsponding with anyone researching PIERCE in Clinton County, Kentucky, 1800-1850s. Thomas J(efferson?) PIERCE was born in KY 1820s according to Barry County, Missouri, census records. His son James PIERCE was born 1848. James PIERCE's mother apparently died in KY, and his father migrated to MO. No record of James PIERCE's mother's name. I found in 1850 in Clinton Co. a Jefferson Pierce age 22, wife Martha age 18, son James age 2. I've done extensive work on this Jefferson Pierce without actually traveling to Kentucky, and he seems to be related to Francis Pierce, Ambrose Pierce and Lewis Pierce of the county. A family name that seems to be related to my PIERCE family is McComas, also from Kentucky. Sincerely, Gene Johnson

    2. Linda Clark
    3. Seen your post on the website and wondered if the MORELAND and WESTMORELAND family of Clinton County had any connection. Names are so similiar that I wondered if WESTMORELAND may have been shortened at one time. There is a David/David Westmoreland in Clinton - 1860 census age 4 and in 1870 Dav is age 16. He married Sarah WRIGHT 1872 in Clinton. That is the last paper record I have if him. Could there be a connection? Linda
