Chris, You might check on www.webcam.com/duane/trip1921.html for another wagon train trip concerning the Clinton Co., KY area. Also, some of William Matthew Massengale's children went to Texas on a wagon train. Pictures appeared in the Clinton County newspaper. Also, one of the Massengale's was either beaten to death or was killed by lightening as they were leaving for Texas on a wagon train. Much of his family eventually migrated to Illinois and Indiana. If I remember correctly this is Martin Massengale's line. Sandi -- Sandih paintgenie@elitemail.org -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Or how I learned to stop worrying and love email again

There were numerous news items from Whitewright, Texas published in the various Fentress County and Jamestown, Tennessee newspapers. Several names were mentioned in each article as I recall. The articles were from the 1890's to about the 1920's. Gary D. Chris, Different girls named Rhoda A. STINSON. They were first cousins and very close in age. The one who married Fount BROWN was the daughter of Tilman C. and Artema Willa (WESTMORELAND) STINSON. The one I am trying to find with a husband and family was born to William Henry H. and Lavina (RIGNEY) STINSON. Fount and his wife were my husband's great-uncle and great-aunt because Fount was his grandfather's brother. The other Rhoda was his grandmother's sister. I think she was the one who married Greorge Thomas SUTTON. I have a lot on Great Uncle Fount BROWN and Rhoda Ann (STINSON) BROWN, his wife, if you want it. Thanks! I noticed that one of the books cited at http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/KK/hrk7.html was A History of Grayson County by Mattied D. Lucas and Mita H. Hall. Mrs. Hall was the daughter of John Wright Holsapple, who represents one of several Holsapple branches to come from Kentucky to Texas. He came from Calloway Co., I believe. Does anyone know anymore about his ancestry? My own Holsapples are from Clinton Co., descendents of Jacob Holsapple and Catherine Van Meter Holsapple. In my research, I've found Holsapples scattered throughout (mostly) the western half of Kentucky. Has anyone been able to connect them? I find it astounding that there can be as many branches of a family, with a not very common name, all in the same part of the state without their being related. Jacob and Catherine had at least 12 children of record. I don't believe all of their descendents are accounted for either. Any help out there, especially with the less researched children? -- Patrick J. McCann, Jr. Dallas, TX CRESCIT SUB PONDERE VIRTUS

Anna, In the 1910 census, George T Sutton appears in Mullentown, Wayne Co., KY with his wife, Rhoda and children (this is extremely hard to read but here goes) George T. Sutton, age 42?, b. GA Rhoda, age 37, b. KY William H. (he is 12 or 15, this census page is very washed out, born KY) ??? L. (daughter, age 6, KY) Hattie E. (age 4, KY) Roxie M. (age 1 5/12, KY) 1910 census says that Rhoda had 10 children and 4 are still living. In the 1920 census, there is a Thomas Sutton (age 56 b,. GA) in Precinct 5, Piney Woods, Clinton Co., KY with his wife Rhoda (age 48, b. KY) and children: Lou, age 15, Hattie, age 14, Roxie, age 10, Kenzie, (son) age 8, and Ettie, age 4 8/12. All born KY. In June Bork's "Wayne Co Marriages and Vital Records" vol 2, there is a William Stinson and Rhoda Joan Sloan listed in the Births section (page 314). This page lists a daughter Mary Jane was born Dec 1, 1858 on K Creek. The book has info up to 1860, so these might be your Rhoda's parents. Though I could not find them in the 1880 census. I hope this helps.
