Hi Debbie, Do you want your surnames added to the Clinton Co. Surname Registry and/or the South Central KY Surname Registry? It's a great way to make contact with others that are researching the same names. The Clinton Co. Surname Registry is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyclinto/surname.html and the South Central KY Surname Registry is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyclinto/reg.html Anyone else want your names added to one or the other of the Registries? From: <dbowlin@bellsouth.net> Date: 2005/12/09 Fri AM 11:56:31 EST To: KYCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KYCLINTO] Shelley/Blair/Sheckles family history Clinton, Co, KY I also would be very interested in any Shelley history. I just recently found out that my gr gr grandmother was a Shelley from Clinton County, KY. Her death certificate states she is Bettie Wright (which I think her name "could have been" Rebecca Elizabeth Shelley Wright, but went by the name Bettie....but not confirmed yet...) Her death certificate also states she was the daughter of Abraham Blair and Magdelina (sp) Shelley. My Bettie also was the wife of Riley Wright. I am thinking his name "could have been" James Riley Wright, but still have not proven that yet, as this is a new brick wall I am trying to knock down. I find my Bettie, again, in Cumberland County, KY, living with her daughter, Sarah Wright Sheckles. I have investigated a little bit further on Sarah, and her death certificate does state her parents as being Riley and Bettie Wright. In addition to that, I also find that Sarah's husband was Tilman Sheckles from Clinton County, Albany, KY. I only found one Tilman Sheckles in Albany, but he was way too old to have been her husband at that time. The Tilman Sheckles I find did indeed have a wife named Sarah, but she died 6/22/1863. He was born 2/6/1837 and died 9/8/1902 and had a second wife, Mary E. who was born 2/19/1840 and died 2/13/1900. I also wonder if there was a Tilman Sheckles Jr., maybe? I know all of this is on speculation right now, but this is a brand new door of my line of genealogy and I am very excited to find others who may be researching this line. Have you looked for Social Security records for those who died after 1935? Social Security came into being in 1935. Just some suggestions. Both the Death Certificates and the SS records should give the names of both parents and ask for the maiden name of the mother. Hope this helps you find that elusive maiden name!

By any chance did a Dr. Goodson move to Liberty, Mo. in the 1930's who is related to you? I grew up in Liberty and I can remember a Dr. Goodson who came to Liberty in the 1930's to practic medicine. Was a very colorful figure. He also was very smart and did a lot for all the people of Clay County. He was killed in an auto accident in 1964. His office which was above a pharmacy that he owned was sold to a group which made it into a museum. I volunteer there several times a month. His office is the same as it was the day he died.
