The Gift As I was sitting here tonight, It finally dawned on me, Why I have this burning desire, This need to know all about my ancestors. It is because it allows me to satisfy my curiosity, And keeps me busy with facts and figures, Somewhere there is always a mystery, It is up to me to try to solve it! I wanted to be an accountant, Or maybe a librarian, A teacher, or an archaeologist, Or an author, or maybe even a photographer. But instead, here I am, Day after day, With my nose in census books, Looking up records, and traveling all over the place. I go to cemeteries, Talk to fellow researchers, Helping all that I can, While learning every day.
