also if you go back to one of the very early Webster's dictionary, Mulatto is stated as having a parent of mixed race, either White, Black, or Native America, and I have talked to several people, and when they first started taking Census, they listed people in 3 groups, White, Black, or Mulatto, I ran into this in doing research on my family, and my Uncle went back to a very old dictionary and found Mulatto listed as stated above Nancy Smallwood
