The Jefferson BAKER who is quoted as being born in Kentucky and in Owsley Co. is of the son of John BAKER. The Jefferson BAKER who married China was born in TENNESSEE and son of Thomas Franklin Baker. Will get back with you in a couple of days. And regarding SMITH's from Jackson County, they are more than likely descendants of Polly SMITH's father Jesse James SMITH who is a son of Hugh Benjamin SMITH who migrated along with son Joseph SMITH to Jackson County from Clay County.
