Your Edward Robinson was the son of Charles Robertson. This was his first family and we don't know who is wife was. He had: William b. 1807, Charles, Jr. b. 1813 (my ancestor), Russell b. 1814, Edward b. 1821, Elisha b. 1824. Then he married Mary Ann Yeager and had Sarah Ann. b. 1844, Milly b. 1845, Elizabeth Jane b. 1849, John b. 21 Feb 1853, and Mary L. b. 20 May 1854. Charles died in 1854, probably around Laurel Co., KY. He was the son of: Julius Robertson b. 1755 d. bef 12/26/1818 m. Sarah Shelton b. 1755 d. 1810 Charles Robertson b. 7/24/1733 d. bef 10/1798 m. Susannah Nichols b. 1742 d. bef 10/13/1806 (The above Charles Robertson signed the Watauga Petition) Israel Robertson b. 1698-1700 d. bef 8/12/1760 m. Sarah William b. 1699 d. aft 8/12/1760 Nicholas Robertson b. 1665-1667 d. aft 5/12/1718 m. Sarah Marks d. aft 1702 The Robinson/Robertson name is used almost interchangeably. The family started out from what we know in Prince George Co., VA, then to Granville Co., NC, Buncombe Co., Washington Co., TN, and eventually to Clay Co., KY. An interesting note here...my ancestor was Melvina Robertson who married John Ward Kelly. Her father was Charles Robertson, Jr. who was married to Catherine Shelton. He died in 1853 or so and Catherine Shelton married L. Julius Spivey. Julius Spivey's mother was Susannah Robertson, who was sister the Charles Robertson who was Catherine's father-in-law. So, Melvina was raised with three children who were not only her half brother and sisters but also her cousins.
