RootsWeb is in the process of switching over to new upgraded list management software. For list subscribers, the changeover should be smooth. The changes primarily involve the administration tools that keep the list running behind the scenes. Some things you may want to take note of: -- 1 -- The new software requires the word "subscribe" or "unsubscribe" in the subject line in order to process. It can also be in the body, but it *must* be in the subject. -- 2 -- Digest subscribers will notice some changes to the list digests. As I understand it, with the old system you received each message in the digest as an attachment (MIME format). The default for the new system is to receive all the messages in one long email body (INLINE format). If you find that you would prefer the MIME format, I should be able to make that change on an individual basis if you contact me privately at the list admin address: KYCLAY-admin@rootsweb.com *after* the migration. -- 3 -- IF you use any filters in your mail, you may need to do some tweaking after the migration. This mailing list address will be KYCLAY@rootsweb.com. The -l and -d will have been dropped. -- 4 -- CHECK YOUR SPAM FILTERS, especially AOL users. After the first round of migrations it would appear that a lot of list mail is ending up in spam filters. If you use AOL you might want to check out the AOL Users mailing list and archives at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/RootsWeb_Support/AOLers-RootsWeb.html. There is also a mailing list that has been set up to help users during this transition at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html. -- 5 -- If you previously subscribed to the list in both L and D modes using the same email address you will find that you are no longer subbed in Digest mode. The new software doesn't permit the same address to be subbed in both L and D modes. Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you will need to subscribe to the digests using a different email address. If you would like a gmail address contact me off list and I will be happy to send you one. Please continue to send your queries, data, and responses to the list as usual. It is a great time to post a new query to try to break down those brick walls. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at and I will do my best to be of help to you. Thanks! Becky
