Charlotte, You can search the U.S. 1880, the British 1881, and the Canadian 1881 to your heart's content. Go to: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp I see 4 James Hookers in KY and a total of 116 in the U.S. Not certain how old yours was in 1880, so I'm unsure which one might be yours.
