I have a grandma Mary (Polly) Metcalf, born 1834 in NC. Her parents were Hezakiah Metcalf b. 1785, Buncomb NC, and Maria (unknown) born 1806 in NC. My Mary Polly Metcalf was married on 31 Nov 1848 to James Hensley and then to Hugh Herd 12 Nov 1871. Mary Polly died between 1870-80 in Clay County, KY. They had a daughter Lucy Herd who married John Sams who is my ggrandparents.
