    3. Marvin, I know only that McDaniels were in Clay County very early on, one of the very first families. There is a Thomas McDaniel and a George McDaniel in the 1807 Clay County tax list, probably the first official accounting of people on hand at the founding of the county that year. My only connection, though, is my Uncle Mark, who married my Aunt Violet House, and thus was married into the family, not blood kin. My father and Uncle Mark liked to get into the sauce and come to blows every now and then at family picnics, basketball games and so on.
