You all have put forth interesting information regarding Hiram Harrison Smith and his wife Sally/Sarah Hunt/Hurst. It should be noted that there was not ANY Hurst's in Clay County Tax Lists from its beginning through 1852. Levi B. Hunt presents the best opportunity to be the father of Hiram's wife since HE is the only one who in the 1840 census that was not in Clay County in the 1830 census. The introduction of the name of Sally is fruitful as in the marriage license she is listed as SALLY HUNT. Of course census records give vearious ages for her and in the 1900 census she indicates she was born in 1825 and sometimes a 2 can look like a 5 to others. But Judy you have or I believe it was Judy that has this pecific info regarding Judith Hunt. I would appreciate receiving such info if you can as I am doing work on this line myself and have much material but not the REAL parentage of Sally/Sarah [Hunt] as I was beginning to believe that Levi B. Hunt was her father considering in the 1840 census she fits in his female groups. And most people agree that Sally & Sarah are the same. Respectfully, Hal [Harold L. Smith]
Martha, I felt the same way. Just when you think you have right, somebody comes up with a different twist. Jennie

Hi Judy, This info was sent to me by the Jackson Co Ky Clerk a few years back. He could not say where the lady got this info, she claimed these were her direct lines. So to make a long story short, this was the 1st time I had heard these names together in the email earlier, so I thought I'd post to see if anyone had info on these lines. I was hoping maybe someone could tell me who they are!!! Judy, Your email caught my attention when you mentioned Levi B. Hunt. Levi was my 4th great grandfather. I descend from his daughter Judith Hunt. I was checking my records to see if I have a Sarah Hunt as a daughter to Levi and I dont. I do however have a "Sally" Hunt, born Dec 13, 1822. Just wondering if this Sally might be the same as the Sarah you mentioned. Have any thoughts? Dear Mary Jo: I have much data regarding Hiram Harrison Smith and at the present time am so busy trying to get something out today that I will have to get all facts in front of me to give you a decent reply. However the death of the husband of Polly is off by 10 years and you also have the wrong Jefferson BAKER. The Jefferson BAKER who is quoted as being born in Kentucky and in Owsley Co. is of the son of John BAKER. The Jefferson BAKER who married China was born in TENNESSEE and son of Thomas Franklin Baker. Will get back with you in a couple of days. And regarding SMITH's from Jackson County, they are more than likely descendants of Polly SMITH's father Jesse James SMITH who is a son of Hugh Benjamin SMITH who migrated along with son Joseph SMITH to Jackson County from Clay County. See ya. Take care and God Bless. Hal [Harold L. Smith]

I do have a question on this line. I have that Hiram Smith m. Sarah Hunt, not hurst, and the marriage was performed by Levi B. Hunt. I checked this line out in census records and Sarah was born in Tennessee. Are you sure it was Hurst? Thanks for the fill-in on Tabitha Davidson. It's nice to be able to fill in the blanks and not even have to do any work. :) The Abbey Baker, (daughter of Tabitha Davidson & Reubin Baker) is actually Ibby Baker. That is one of my grandmothers.
