    2. Hi Hal! My name is Dennis Wagers, my family is from Clay County. I am not sure what you are talking about when you say you filled out a form. A form for what? As for the person you are looking for in the web address, it is Betty Wages. She is a great lady, who is a senior citizen herself. I believe the Wages line you are asking about is a different line than the Wages/Wagers line Betty's husband and my Dad are from. I hope this helps. If I can help anymore, let me know. Thank you for your service to our country. God Bless, Dennis Wagers

    2. I am mystified but hope that this can get some kine of results. I now have lost faith in attempting to help someone asking for information. The person requesting such information was someone at jasperwages@hih.net but from nobody@earthlink.net. I had to fill out a form and then reply to as requested resulted in it being returned as no one at nobody@earthline.net I now am believing that NOBODY does mean NOBODY. However the content of my e-mail hopefully someone out there could give this 79 year old senior citizen and a 100% Disabled American Serviceman some help. Respectfully. Harold "Hal" L. Smith

    2. I am completely mistified as I have never had to fill out a form since I was replying to a request by Betty regarding a Samantha Smith. I as a 79 year old senior citizen and a 100% Disabled American Serviceman fell slightly offended, however since I am not knowledgeable regarding your mail then I should keep still. I however hope that what I sent to you is helpful. However it would appear to me now, that surely you have availed yourself of this information yourself by the same way that I acquired it. However one does wonder what you were getting at in your request. I myself, do respectfully request something from you, and hopefully you may have the answer. Do you have any information regarding a Mose WAGES who on 24 September 1843 married a Zilphin [Zilphy in 1880 census] in Clay County. I am curious about their daughter who was named Jane and 22 years old in 1880 Clay County census and were at dwelling & household # 160, just below Letcher WAGES, Benjamin WAGES, John B. 3. I am showing Jane, Jane Alyfair Wages, as the daughter of Moses Wages and Zylphia Smith. Showing Jane married Matthew Henson of Clay Co KY and they had a son Robert Henson. Could you please tell me what you know about this Matthew Henson? I am showing an America Wages who married Thomas Henson August 28, 1887 Clay Co KY. This Thomas Henson is said to be a son of Peter Harvey Henson and Mary Wages who married Dec 29, 1846 Clay Co KY ... father Paul Henson consented. The Hensons and Wages appear to go way back in Clay Co KY. I would like any information on a Henry Henson and Mary Jane Wages who married on March 06, 1847 Clay Co KY. Anybody reading this, please share any knowledge on the Henson and Wages family lines. 3. Hello everyone, We need to make a correction here on Matilda Davidson thay married Washington Burns, the s/o William (born 1802) and Rachel Asher. Washington's name is just that, Washington, no George added to his name at all. He is my gg grandfather. His son William married Mary "Polly" Brewer, and after her death he married Alabama Roberts. My grandfather Abijah Burns was the son of William and Mary "Polly" Brewer Burns. 3. Martha Jo ... the Mahala Haley Davidson that you show, I am showing as Haley Davidson who married Jacob Oxford JR on Jan 18, 1835 Clay Co KY (parents Oxford and Davidson gave consent). Showing Jacob Oxford JR as the son of Jacob B. Oxford b abt 1781 NC and Elizabeth Burleson Rogers (daughter of George Rogers and Elizabeth Losson/Lawson). Showing Jacob B. Oxford as the son of Samuel Oxford and Bathsheba Barrett who settled in Lincoln Co KY. Jacob Oxford JR along with his parents moved to Livingston/Grundy Co MO abt 1837 as did my Henson/Forbis ancestors did of Laurel Co KY. Many people of Clay, Laurel, Rockcastle, Knox Co's moved by wagon train abt 1837 to Livingston/Grundy Co MO ... if anybody knows the reason for the massive migration from KY to this area of MO, please let me know. Before 1850, my Henson/Forbis line returned to Laurel/Jackson Co area of KY and the later, before 1860, they moved to Webster Co MO. Thanks Martha Jo, and anybody else readying this, for sharing. 1. [KYCLAY] Hunts and Hursts of Tennessee & Clay County, Kentucky
    2. Hi Judy: I finally had time yesterday and this morning to check out things at Library of Michigan in Lansing, Michigan. Your material I could not copy only the left side of the data. However I was able to get a grasp of things. The spelling of Sally Hunt's last name definitely is Hunt, HOWEVER the way it is written could leave a person, that did not read thoroughtly other words on the document, to imagine it could say Hurst. Now the Sally/Sarah Hunt supposedly was born in Claiborne County and was married in Clay County. Hiram Harrison Smith himself being son of Henry was BORN in CLAY COUNTY and not in Tennessee as one individual mentioned. I have previously mentioned about Clay County Tax Lists and stating that Levi B. Hunt was the only person that I believed that Hiram's wife could have came from. It still is possible and she could have been a niece however other things compound the issue. In the 1820 Kentucky census index there is only ONE Hunt enumerated and that was Jonathan and he was on page 128, however and asterisk was after his name * I do not know what that means. There was only ONE Hurst in a nearby county as none were in Clay County and a Elisha Hurst was on page 006 in Floyd County. In the 1830 Kentucy census index we have following in Clay County: Caswell Hunt on page 177 Dudly Hunt on page 181 Jonathan Hunt on page 177 Lewis Hunt on page 177 You will note that Caswell, Dudly and Lewis were on same page and Dudley was on Tax List in the 1820's therefore I believe that Caswell & Lewis are his sons. In the same 1830 Kentucky census only Perry County had any Hursts and they had the following: Harman Hurst on page 358 in Perry County Samuel Hurst on page 354 in Perry Count. In the 1840 Kentucky Census index of the Hunts in Clay County: Jonathan Hunt on page 318 in Clay County Levi B. Hunt on page 318 in Clay County William Hunt on page 318 in Clay County [does not have a female matching Sally/Sarah Now my read of the above the only one who was in Tennessee during the 1820's was would have beenLevi B. Hunt. Now was he in Claiborne Co in 1824-26, who knows or did he have a brother??? Sally/Sarah has to be related to him. In the 1840 Kentucky Census index of KNOX County we have a Allen Hurst on page 308, I will attempt to further get a read of his enumeration as this would be the only other person and this a Hurst that would help anyone. Now I have what I call startling news regarding 1830 census of Tennessee. A Levi HUNT was enumerated in Monroe County, Tennessee which is south of Knoxville bordering North Carolina and smack dab in the Cherokee Nathional Forest and I believe that Madisonville could be the county seat, Levi's enumeration was as follows which is similiar to his 1840 census record: 100001 221001 A Edmund Hunt also was enumerated in Monroe County & his enumeration as follows: 00000001 211201 A William Hunt was the only other one enumerated as follows in Monroe County: 120001 11001 In the 1830 Claiborne County, Tennessee census I could not find any Hunts ast all. However I did find 23 families of HURST's. Let it be said that is certainly looks like the Hursts came from Claiborne OR was it that the name of Hunt got fractured into Hurst as people could read another's writing into a Hurst from a Hunt. If Sally/Sarah Hunt was born in Claiborne County one would wonder about her surname IF she is not related to Levi B. Hunt. However since she was married by Levi I would tend to believe that there was some kind of relationship. The following are the Hursts in Claiborne in order of their enumeration: Page 104 Jesse Hurst 10001 10001 " " Jesse Hurst 2021001 01001 " " William Hurst 2010001 02001 Page 110 Hiram Hurst 121101 200201 Page 111 John Hurst 111001-00001 " " John Hurst 11010001 1101001 Page 112 Henly Hurst 10001 20001 Page 115 Elijah Hurst 1111001 1110001 Page 116 Jesse Hurst 2110001 1001 " " Arthur Hurst 00001 20001 page 117 John Hurst 1011201 110211 Page 122 Thompson Hurst 201101 021001 " " Aaron Hurst 3020001 020001 " " Charles Hurst 00001 33001 Page 123 Rody Hurst 0001 201001 " " John Hurst 00001 21001 Page 127 William Hurst 211001 021001 Page 130 Andrew Hurst 002001 31101 " " Squire Hurst 2001 10001 Page 131 Fielding Hurst 00001 00001 " " Harmon Hurst 000000001 000000001 Page 135 Calvin Hurst 10001 0001 Page 148 Mark Hurst 00001 10001 Page 149 Nancy Hurst 0 000000101 You have the Hunt line and would appreciate where did they come from. I will have additional data next week pertaining to the Hiram Harrison Smith and Sally/Sarah Hunt family and appreciate any revelant information that others have. What I am personally interested in is the history of their son JOSEPH K. SMITH. I do have his death certificate which does not help anyone. It is the worst death certificate that I have seen by anyone. What I am interested in is his marriages. I have his 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920 censuses but would like to know who were his wife's. I believe that he is the father of a Emily Jane Smith who married John D. Jackson, son of Micajah "Cager" Jackson and Amanda Smith. You all take care & have a good week-end. Hal [Harold L. Smith]

    3. This is Betty Wages and I would appreciate if you would see if you can find a Sarah Elizabeth Hurst that married Hiram Harrison Smith. She was from Claborne, Tn.. When they married I am thinking they moved to Clay Co., Ky. to live. Their youngest Daughter Samantha Smith married Highie Wages. They died in Jackson Parish, Louisiana. Buried in Eros, Louisiana. Salem Cemetery. I have been to the Cemetery. I also have a photo of their graves but it is not to clear. I would love to know who Sarah's Parents and Grandparents was. Anything you can tell me about Hiram Harrison Smith Family would also be appreciated. Thanks. 3. Hal, I have extensive information on all the Hunts and this Sally who married Hiram Smith is the odd ball. She is definitely not the daughter of Levi B. Hunt. Levi's daughter Sally married Granville Hacker and died in 1846, probably in childbirth. There was an older William Hunt in the 1830 Clay Co., KY census but no child looked right age to be your Sally either. I believe Jonathan Hunt was the father of Levi B. and in 1830 and 1840 he had a young female living with him that I can't account for but again not exactly the right age. 1850 has Sally, wife of Hiram Smith as 28 and 1860 has her as 39. Here is the link to the Hunt family bible. I posted at Barry Co., Mo. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/data/hunt.htm I have copies of the actual pages and started to post them at Clay Co. but got sidetracked so I think there are only two pages posted there. I do have actual copies of the marriage records for both Sally's. I can scan them and send them to those interested but I don't think I'm allowed to post them on this list. And the name may actually be Hurst now that I looked at the certificate again. .Actually it looks like Hunts. Incidentally the Clay Co. marriage book index has Hiram and Sally "Hunt" marriage as 1845 and it was 1843, whoever she was! If you have access, you should check Owsley Co. Tax lists for Hurst because Owsley broke off from Clay in 1843 and Levi B. lived in Owsley Co. after that so maybe a "Hurst" did also. It would be interesting to know and maybe help decide who she was. Happy to help!
