    2. Do you have any connection to the Bird/Byrd, Campbell, or Helton lines in Clay Co. KY? These are my lines, and they went from NC to TN to KY and some to IN and OH. Thanks

    3. Donna, I know very little about Theo as they were both over 60 when they married. I saw him a few times when he was healthy, once we went to Cumberland Gap Historic Park together. But he became very ill and was bedridden the last few times I saw him. Fortunately, my grandmother was a nurse. I recall that he was from or had family in Richmond, Indiana. At the time of his death (1980's) he had at least one son living in the Manchester area. If you would send me your personal email, I could find out more details for you. ghoward@alegreinc.com ________________________________ From: kyclay-bounces@rootsweb.com on behalf of Donna McDermit Sent: Tue 1/23/2007 11:01 AM To: kyclay-l@rootsweb.com Subject: [KYCLAY] Mary Bell Jarvis and Theo Jarvis connection Greg-- I'm sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing. 3. I noticed you mentioned your family line of Hendricks/Hendrix. I am curious about a Sarah 'Sally' Hendicks who married a Henry Henson on April 26, 1830 Clay Co KY. Is this Sally possibly a sister to your James Hendricks who married Manerva Lewis, daughter of Samuel Lewis and Keziah McDaniel. Samuel Lewis is a son of James Theopholus Lewis and Winetrey 'Winnie Henson. Do you or anyone reading this, know anything about this Henry Henson of Clay Co KY mentioned above? Thanks for sharing. My father was Omer Jones. He preached in the Christian Churches of Clay, Laurel, & Jackson Counties. Our family were members of the Manchester Christian Church. I knew Zenas & Mary Bell through our association at church. I was a teenager & they were middled aged with (I think) 2 children...a boy & a girl. Can't remember their names. I remember Zenas as a small man with a great voice who loved to sing. And I remember how beautiful your grandmother was. She had beautiful black wavy hair. I believe they lived at or near Cotten Bend. I just remember what nice humble Christian people they were. Vietta Jones Richardson Hamilton, OH

This is what I have found in my research: John Gilbert born 1775-1764 age-86-1850;ae-96-1860 of Tennessee and shown as born in North Carolina on the census' and according to the John J.Dickey Diary pg 2219.( I will do some abreviating so I will describe what these abbreviations are:bn=born;d.=died;ae=age;J.J.D.D.=John J.Dickey Diary;md=married,mg=marriage;FHCSLC=Family History Center Salt Lake City;bk=book; Mary=Mollie,Polly;Sarah=Sallie or Sally;Margaret=Peggy or Pug;There are others that have these nick names. There is a comment from the J.J.D.D. that I would like to pass on at this time.found on pg 2181. Mrs._____Caudill of Benge, Kentucky Says "I am the daughter of Rev.Taylor Gilbert. I have heard Mrs Hopper,My father's aunt, say that my great grandfather Rev. John Gilbert, was born out of wedlock. His father was a wealthy man named_____Gilbert. His mother begged him to marry her,but he would not and she disappeared. It was Not known what became of her,but it was supposed she drowned herself in the Atlantic Ocean or "The Sea" as she called it. His father raised him and he came to Kentucky at an early day. Comment by Dale: Mrs Caudill must be Mittie who md Emory Caudill. They were living next to Taylor Gilbert in the 1900 census of Clay County Dist.29 sheet no.20 pg B. Mrs Hopper would be Nancy Gilbert Hopper who married Blackgrove B.Hopper 26 Sep 1838 Mg records of Clay Co.,Ky 1801-1852 Call no.976.9A1 no 30 FHCSLC. 2. Thank you Joyce for enlighten me an at the same time inform others who may someday appear in the same position as I. Maybe after celebrating my 79th birthday by not getting enough sleep that night I was not in the proper mood last evening. I now apologize to you Betty as I thought that the inquiry was from you. Therefore I will give myself 79 lashes with a wet noodle. I hope that is enough punishment to satisfy everyone. And I believe someone wanted info besides me on Jane or Mary Jane Wages born ca. 1858 [dau. of Moses Wages & Zylphia Smith and a roaten@prodigy.net supplies info that she was married to Matthew Henson of Clay Co. KY. I still am awaiting information on Joseph K. Smith, son of Hiram Harrison Smith & Sally/Sarah Hunt who was born fall of 1859 and died winter of 1926 in Clay County. I have his death certificate and WOW no information on it only saying he dropped dead and a Ike Mills gave infor with no names for father or mother & that he was married at his death. Nobody signed the death certificate. If anyone out there desires to have a copy of this death certificate [Joseph K. Smith], kindly e-mail me and I will scan it to you. Also wishing to know who Joseph K Smith's 3 or 4 wives were. He had a Mollie in 1900 Clay Co census and in 1910 Knox County census. In 1920 Clay Co. census his wife was a 49 year old Nancy. He had children prior to marrying Mollie, and those are known to have been Daugherty and James. Because a Joseph Smith signed a permission slip for a Emily Jane Smith to marry John D. Jackson along with Amanda Jackson mother of John, it is my belief that he also is the father of Emily. However I am seeking out any information that maybe someone out there may have the answer. The other Clay County, Joseph Smith's are not the answer. Emily Jane has to the this Joseph K. Smith's daughter or the outside chance that the Joseph Smith, son of Jesse James Smith in Jackson County could be, BUT that I feel he is slim but not IMPOSSIBLE. And Joyce you are such a nice and kind lady and no one could every disagree with your opinions as you have always tried to help out others. & I thank you for your kind remarks last summer regarding us solving the parentage of Ida Jackson. And I again want to salute you. Take care & God Bless. Hal [Harold L. Smith] from Mid-Michigan

Hi Hal! My name is Dennis Wagers, my family is from Clay County. I am not sure what you are talking about when you say you filled out a form. A form for what? As for the person you are looking for in the web address, it is Betty Wages. She is a great lady, who is a senior citizen herself. I believe the Wages line you are asking about is a different line than the Wages/Wagers line Betty's husband and my Dad are from. I hope this helps. If I can help anymore, let me know. Thank you for your service to our country.
