    3. Marriage records can be ordered from the Clay County Court Clerk's Office, Manchester, Ky. At one time they were charging $1,00 for the record and $3.00 for the clerk ( or Assistant) to look up the record and do the copying. Also send a SASE. The actual address of the County Court Clerk's Office along with Zip Code and phone number was listed on the Clay CO., Web Site. It may be now, I did not go to see. Wilma

    3. Write to the Clay County Court Clerk, Manchester, Ky. They did charge $2.00 for the record and $3.00 for doing the look up. Don't know if they have changed their prices or not. If you visit the Clay Co. KY: does John Spicer of Clay, KY = Jonathan T Jones of Perry, KY Greetings, I've wondering if anyone on the list may have an nsight into the identity of the John Spicer listed in he 1820 and 1830 Clay, Kentucky census. The reason I'm raising this question is that I and thers have been researching for some time the arentage of Jonathan T Jones who settled on roublesome Creek in Perry County sometime in the mid 830s. According to Jones family oral tradition Jonathan T ones was actually a Jonathan Spicer who had killed a an in Louisiana, married a part (or full) Cherokee irl named Lucinda (Barnett?) and went into Kentucky. Efforts to find the parents of a Jonathan T Jones have ll failed, but there was certainly a Spicer family nterconnected with other families that went into entucky on the Virginia frontier as early as the irst half of the 18th century. Jonathan and Lucinda Jones had children Elizabeth, ndrew Borkin, Samantha, Dilitha, and William. The oneses are said to have been prosperous owners and perators of grist mills in the area. There does seem to have been a Samuel Spicer also iving in Clay County in the 1820s and 1830s (s/o illiam Spicer and Jemima Haines) who could be a close elation to the John Spicer in those censuses. Any insights would be welcomed. 1. [KYCLAY] Clifton Baker Obit
    2. Clifton Baker, born Clay County, KY on July 26, 1924 died May 19, 2007 in Florida. He was married to the former Joann Scudder. He is the son of Robert Baker (son of Emily Lyttle and Tom Baker, Sr.) and Flora Ball. Clifton was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in World War II. He carried shrapnel in his back from injuries he received in battle at the age of 19. Funeral arrangements are through Settle-Wilder Funeral Home (406 South Orange Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL. 32168---368-428-5757). Visitation is from 4-7 on Thursday, funeral 9AM with burial in the National Cemetery near Bushnell, Florida on Friday, May 25. Although our ages were separate by 20 years, we were as close a first cousins could be. We shared more than the Baker name: laughter, sorrows, secrets and time together as friends. He was devoted to Joann and his children: Clifton, Jr. (Butch), John, Ernie, Butch, Nancy and Paula. He loved his family and we always ended our conversations with "I love you." He will be missed for his generosity, humor and knowledge of the world. He joins his mother and the father who was taken from him at age 10 and whom he mourned throughout his life. I will miss him along with all those who knew him. ____________________________________ See what's free at _AOL.com_ (http://www.aol.com/?ncid=AOLAOF00020000000503) . ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
