    2. also if you go back to one of the very early Webster's dictionary, Mulatto is stated as having a parent of mixed race, either White, Black, or Native America, and I have talked to several people, and when they first started taking Census, they listed people in 3 groups, White, Black, or Mulatto, I ran into this in doing research on my family, and my Uncle went back to a very old dictionary and found Mulatto listed as stated above Nancy Smallwood

    3. I don't know your Reid family but in Webster's dictionary, Mulatto is generally referring to the product or children of one white parent and one black and it goes on to say or one white parent and one of color. So the meaning of Mulatto is greater than the majority of people may think. I hope this helps you. The confusion is that when I looked them up in the Clay Co. 1880 census on the LDS site it showed their race as "mulatto". My family is caucasian. 2. No, my Goforth line is from Claiborne Co TN. However I do think that the Goforth in Clay just might be part of our line. I think the George Goforth shown in "Clay County Families" history was the long lost George who was a cousin to my Great Grandfather. I have the book 4th addition of Goforth Genealogy by George T. Goforth if you do not have a newer one I can might be able to help you. Kay

    3. Willis Sizemore's children 1.Cynthia b 1832 2.Eliza b 1834 then there is an 8-year break. Also in the 1840 Clay Co Census there was no female of child-bearing age listed in the household 3. Emily Jane b 1842 4. Martha b 1844 marr Thomas Asher 5. Letcher b 1846 6. Farmer b 1847 7. Margaret b 1849 8. Lucinda b 1852 9. Green T. b 1854 10. 3. Thanks, Joyce, Cassy Sommers decends from James Delph, Betty Young decends from Harvey Delph, I decends from Benjamin Franklin Delph, All 3 are brothers. It has been hard to find any information on some of our Delph. Thanks, Geri Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 4:55 PM Subject: Re: [KYCLAY] Martha Sizemore/J.A. 1. Re: [KYCLAY] Martha Sizemore
