    2. Jess Old Friend.... God forbid that we should ever have those kinds of worries. Not the worries that would involve you jumpin outa airplanes, nor those that come with the actual fighting and carrying on that comes with having the world at war. The worries Im speakin of is how your family and friends would be able to sleep at night knowin the pride and true treasure of Clay County would be away from home kickin the tar outa somebody. I suppose this could provide more fodder for another 80 years of your stories, but we dare risk it. I say we just put you in charge of the whole dang thing. Im sure with your wit and wisdom, you'd have the fracas settled by the following Sunday and we could all go to meetin. I agree with Guilda, you HAVE made my day. Peace be with you and your family. Cousin Robert "Reddog" Rogers

    2. Regarding the photo being mentioned of Samuel and Idarus (Brock) Caldwell with their son, Allen, and Dewey Collett. I'm the one who sent the photo of these folks to Ms. Tara Napier. If anyone is interested in me sending this over the computer to them, let me know. I'll gladly share. Diane R.

    3. I MAY WANT TO BE A PARATROOPER By Jess Wilson Some time during World War 2, I happened to read an article on the qualifications for joining the paratroopers or some such special outfits. One thing that disqualified a soldier was to have undershot front teeth. It was then I noticed that my lower teeth were behind my upper teeth. Through a series of accidents I lost six of my lower front teeth which were replaced by a detachable bridge that hinged on two teeth at each side. The first tooth on each side was covered with a plate of metal which protected that tooth from wear. After some years when I removed the detachable it revealed the two long tusks. The removable bridge worked satisfactorily for several years. I could even eat tinder corn on the cob. While in New England at the reception of our granddaughter`s college graduation one of the long teeth snapped when I bit into an ear of corn that was not tinder. I managed not to swallow the tooth and the detachable would stay in place as it anchored to two teeth on each side. The problem was the empty space where the broken tooth had been. My tongue kept trying to feel the space. You can remember when you lost a baby tooth. Oldsters would tell you that if you never put your tongue into the missing place that a golden tooth would grow back and you could never resist the temptation to explore the empty space? On our trip home while we were eating lunch, I was trying to fill the empty space with a bit of paper napkin when daughter Gail suggested candle wax. We asked the waitress for a candle and I chewed bits of the candle into the empty space and then I was more comfortable. A cell-phone call to my dentist got me an appointment when we got to Richmond. When we arrived the dentist glued the broken tooth to the removable which did the job better than eating a candle. The dentist quickly agreed with me that I needed a new plate. Ruth and the daughters had fussed for years that because the removable made my jaw to appear to thrust forward, I was not, they may have said hansom, as I looked before. They argued that a new detachable that conformed to the way my lower teeth were originally would be worth the money. So, some time after next week I will be sporting a new detachable that improves the way my wife and daughters see me. But, I will lack one qualification should I ever want to be a paratrooper. I may keep the old set just in case there is a World War 3, and I have an urge to be a paratrooper...

    3. Nancy, I have she was born abt. 1799, d/o Jacob and Mary Kessler, if what I have is right. Sister of Mary "Polly" Eversole, who married Thomas Smith. I am trying to find out if this is right, if they had a daughter Nancy, that married John Smith, and if so, which John Smith, and when, where did she marry him, where did they live? 1. Re: [KYCLAY] Help Look for Burns & Brewster Cousin
    2. Hello, My grandfather was married to a Lucy Brewster sometime between 1918 which was the year his first wife (Dora Sams) died and 1925, which was the year he married my grandmother (Gracie Campbell). As far as we know there were no children from that marriage and it only lasted a short time. I have searched for a divorce record, but I have not found it as of yet. I do know that my grandfather was divorced at the time he married my grandmother, and she had lived somewhere in the Burning Springs, Sexton's Creek area during that time. That is all I am able to tell you about it, but I can check with some family members and see if she went by any other names. Debbie Scott Wells

    3. Hi, For the past few days I have been trying to sort the William and John Smith's out, in Clay Co., 1810-1850. Married in Clay Co. Who was William Smith that married Elizabeth Moore?
